Maison D'Hanoi Hanova Hotel

My husband and I were on our second trip to Hanoi and had to get a hotel room last minute so booked in here based on the location. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality for the price. Even through the rooms are small, they are tastefully done and a high standard - and the location is fantastic. On our previous trip we stayed out of town a bit at a big hotel (Hanoi Hotel) which I did not like at all so it was wonderful to be so central as we were out most of the time so there was need to for all the extras. If you want a simple/trendy/boutique hotel in the middle of the old quarter this is a good option.

The first thing you notice is how how crowded the street is but that is what you get if you book in the old quarter. I;m not complaining, just stating a fact. The hotel is quite easy to miss because it is quite narrow. However, once you get into the hotel one is pleasantly surprised how nice the hotel is. The people are quite friendly in there. The room was fairly pleasant but a tad small. If you want windows in your room then this is certainly not the place for you because there is only a small window that looks out and that to into the corridor. The food is good there but a tad overpriced. I though the hotel was a little bit overpriced too but no complaints. There are some nice restaurants nearby which are cheaper than the hotel restaurant. I was happy that internet was free. Avoid the massage, overpriced and sucks.
I generally liked Hanoi but what I hated about the place was everybody expecting a tip for everything single little thing.

Pros:
-Central location, easily within walking distance of most sights in Hanoi
-Awesome beds (down comforters, high thread sheets, feather mattress pad & pillows) and great air-conditioning make sleeping here very easy and comfortable.
-From what I could tell, reasonable rates ($140/night for two).
-Free internet access via two computers in the lobby.
-Stylish, albeit a bit worn.

Cons:
-Noisy. For example, floor polishing/vacuuming would routinely start in front of our room at about 8am, even on the weekend. Our room was next to the elevator, so we heard a lot of that traffic, too. However, I slept with ear plugs, so did not have a problem.
-Our room was pretty small and had frosted-glass-brick windows. This didn't bother us, but just be aware that rooms can look substantially different from the promo pics.
-Ok breakfast buffet.

After a long trip from Jersey Channel Islands via London and Kuala Lumpur this hotel was a an oasis of calm in Hanoi. Rooms were clean and comfortable and above standard of our 3 star expectations. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful - due to our accursed nicotine habit they moved us with no fuss into a smoking room which was of an even better standard than our original. Breakfast was varied, tasty and adequate. Close to the lake and all of Hanoi's intriguing old quarter. Excellent boutique hotel offering value for money - well recommended.

Probably the most comfortable beds we slept in during our whole 2 week excursion through Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong. It might be on the pricey end for Hanoi, but we definitely sighed a sigh of relief when coming back at night. The decor is surprisingly well thought out and quite charming, the rooms well lit, and the staff very helpful. Breakfast is not bad too. I would only say the showers aren't so great -- they could use some additional water pressure, and the bathrooms could use some extra lighting, but other than that a great find! We booked another night here after a 2 day trip to Halong Bay.

if you are heading to Hanoi - do not stay anywhere else - gorgeous rooms (if not a little small), marble bathrooms, lovely staff, stunning restaurant and a million times better if you are lucky to get a front room overlooking the city. only draw back is no off street portico for your vehicle to unload luggage etc. this also gives street vendors the opportunity to try for one last sale before you reach the safety of your hotel.

Maison d hanoi ... went with expectations ..but was disappointed very small rooms ...corridors very poorly lit ...... making it very sombre and depressing ... hardly a feeling that you are on a holiday.....open windowless rooms.... just light coming in through glass. Breakfast good and tasty . helpful staff. spa.. was dingy... and dismal. the ceiling in the rooms are low.. so the sense of space is very less . after the second night we had to move out and stay at a another place
