This Hotel is in a great spot. It is in easy walking distance of the French & Old Quarter. Friendly greetings( plenty of smiles) by all the staff from those on the front door (the game is to try & open it before they do!) to the cleaning staff. When small things went wrong (the toilet lever broke, we went out for a drink & an hour later it was fixed), they fixed with a minimum of fuss. Breakfast was a joy, the staff couldn't be more helpful or chatty. Note: if eating breakfast in, get there as early as possible say no later than 7. 00 am - easier to get a table ( only about 10 tables) and the best of the food. We had a small balcony , overlooking Hang Trong - lovely for early pm drinks. We got upgraded to the penthouse on the 12 th floor ( walk the last 2 floor) - small surround sound system, large outside courtyard - views of the Cathedral section. Despite being on Hang Tron, we could hear no traffic at all until we openned the outside doors. After a hectic day avoiding cars & motorbike, it was like coming home . When booking try to get the ones with the balconies.

Great hotel in great location! This Boutique style hotel was a great find. I booked it for my first few nights in Hanoi and it was marvelouss, the room was fantastic so calming and clean . Complimentary drinking water every day was a nice touch.
The staff were so helpful and even though I left my room safe open whilst I went out for an evening everything was safe even though the bed had been turned down for the evening.
Breakfast was fabulous with a great selection and helpful staff, everythingwas available from Pho to omellettes, from baguette to bacon
Location was fabuolus and no traffic noise in the rooms which is unusual for Hanoi
I can highly recommened this hotel as it emerrses you into Hanoi life but with a quiet calming retreat to come back to. FABULOUS!!!!!

I spent 4 nights here and would return any time. Agree that rooms are on small side, but impeccably decorated, well-equipped, bath fully stocked. Check in & out handled very efficiently, but did have to wait 10 minutes for bags and was running late for airport. Day staff and senior staff are superb, helpful and highly trained. Junior and night staff could use some add'l training. Desk and phones lightly staffed late at night; on 2 evenings my 2-3 a.m. calls down to leave wake up calls rang forever and had to call back 3x to leave wake up! 24 hour room service a plus, but always out of the salted bean curd I wanted, at least at 2 a.m.

Perfect location in Old Quarter, block and 1/2 to Bo Khanh St. and GC Bar and Polite Bar, and very easy stroll to Hoan Kiem Lake every evening. Excellent value hotel. Laundry service prompt and cheap! Breakfast buffet quite ample.

Not perfect, but for the price, a very friendly, accommodating, well run, perfectly located, and nice and quiet hotel. Good cable system, too.

Whllst the hotel does not have the facilitites of large chain hotels, pool gymn multiple restaurants etc it has everything else. Those staying here will love the location as you exit the lobby you enter real Hanoi smack in the middle of the old quarter, crossing roads in old Hanoi is an experience not to be missed. We stayed for four nights in August and found the hotel clean and friendly. Great breakfast niceley decorated rooms, only one minor complaint that the aircon was a little noisy. If you get a chance eat at Cha Ca La Vong, Rick Stein featured it in his latest television series, it isn't michelin star but it is a must.

Stayed just one night at Maison D'Hanoi. The positives: Comfortable beds, location in the heart of old town, great decor, and most of all- outstanding staff. Friendly, helpful, and "go above and beyond" seemed to be their mindset. One example- I had to leave before 6am to catch a flight and they packed me a breakfast to take along for the ride.
The negatives: SMALL rooms. We had two single beds and the room was so small that the beds were literally pushed up against each other in order to fit in the room.. Yes, it's cozy but if you're traveling with a friend, it's almost too close for comfort. Also, maybe I could have shopped for a better rate but we paid $110 for the night which I didn't think was all that cheap. Despite all that, would definitely recommend.

We were in a "windowless" room which beforehand we were a bit dubious about, however, turned out to have glass bricks the size of a window in the room & bathroom which allowed in lots of natural light. Hotel is quite new, very clean, freindly staff, good breakfasts in a good spot close to lake, nice shops & cafes, ANZ bank around the corner across the road from lake. Water puppets are within walking distance. Nice restaurant around the corner in Ly Quoc Su Street called "La" and across the road from here you can get a good foot massage lasting 70 minutes for around AUS$7. A cheaper laundry option than the hotel is across the road & approx. 50m to the right, there is a red "Laundry" sign on streetfront, but is actually down a narrow alley, buzzer next to sign to get into alley - looks a bit scary, but is fine and is around AUS$6 up to 3kg.

Arrived in Hanoi without a booking after a Halong Bay trip. Wanted somewhere near Ho Kiem Lake, so wandered around the streets until we stumbled upon this place. The receptionist produced a "special offer" room rate package for 3 nights, but a bit of haggling managed to shave some more off that. The Hotel appears recently built/renovated, so everything is quite new. The rooms are fairly small, but tastefully decorated and functional. Our room had no actual window, just some glass blocks to allow in natural light. The bed was particularly comfortable, which can be hard to find even in high end Asian hotels as Asians seem to prefer very firm beds. Air-con worked fine and the room was very quiet (this is important as Hanoi is a very noisy place with drivers frequently using their horns at all hours of the day/night). The hotel is located (cut and paste N21° 01'50.21" E105°50'58.60" into Google Earth/Maps) in a relatively quite street a couple of minutes walk from the lake, and is handy to all the old quarter sites. The included breakfast (served in the basement) was better than average for this level of hotel. They've managed to combine rooms, decor and staff to give the place an exclusive boutique feel.
I'll probably stay here again on my next visit to Hanoi.
