Reviewed February 6, 2014 via mobile

The Maison is a surprisingly modern retreat in the middle of Hanoi and a lovely escape from the bustling city around you. We stayed for 4 nights in February 2014 and enjoyed our stay immensely. The location is just minutes from the lake and very central...loads of great food options nearby.

Rooms are very clean and bathrooms as well. Great water pressure, free wifi, and the breakfast was very satisfying. Definitely one to add to the list of places in Hanoi well worth staying.

This was our second visit to the Hanova Hotel (1st visit 2010) . We’d enjoyed it then because it was so comfortable and in such a convenient location. We were a little concerned that, three years later, perhaps this might have changed/ deteriorated. We needn’t have worried. The hotel was great. Our room (the top floor suite) was superb and once again the convenience of the hotel (in the old quarter and one block from the lake) was a major asset. The management team and all the staff (led by Mr. Thuy - the Front Office Manager) are great and couldn’t do enough to help us and make sure everything went smoothly – including transportation from and to the airport. If you want anonymous ‘Western Style’ hotels (in anonymous, bland locations) don’t choose this hotel but if you want a hotel offering character, comfort, major convenience and good service this is a great choice.

We stayed here mid january for 4 nights. The location is superb being central . . I found the staff curteous and helpful. The abiding memory was the provision of packed breakfasts to take with us on the train to Hue as we had a rather early start. Great touch most thoughtful and appreciated.

This hotel is right in the middle of just about everything...
Middle of the Old Quarter near the lake so it puts you right in the middle of the action. If you want to get out and about quickly, then this is the place.
Our room faced onto the road, but it was quite quiet regardless. The doors in the corridor made more noise, opening and shutting at night, so bring your ear plugs.
The bathroom is clean, we had a bath with a little over head shower, plenty of hot water so could not complain. The rooms are clean, sheets spotlessly clean, but it all looks a bit tired that's all.
The breakfast is again middle of the road food, plenty of fresh fruit, ok croissants, but we are not in France! The omelettes tasted the best!
Perfect location for a middle of the range hotel, with pleasant enough staff.
You get what it says on the tin! But the location is the best bit by far!
You won't go too far wrong staying here for a couple of nights.

Room Tip: Our room was at the front, near the road, but you couldn't hear from the 8th floor, but you coul...

My favorite thing about this hotel was the location. It's in the Old Quarter near the lake, sn also puts you in easy walking distance of all other sites as well. It was worth the cost just for the location.

The room was very stylish (an attempt at modern-yet-also-old-Shanghai thing going on), all black, white, and red. HOWEVER, there was no window, which I found to be a bit odd and annoying. But the AC worked well, bed was comfy, and the free WiFi worked fine. Staff was attentive and helpful.

My room here was about $65 USD (with tax). Two nights earlier, I had spent $35 USD at a place deeper in the Old Quarter that, while the location and free breakfast were not quite as good, was plenty charming, clean, and stylish (plus I not only had a window there, but had a fun view of the Old Quarter hustle and bustle). In that sense, I felt this place wasn't a GREAT value, and was mad at myself for spending $65 USD when I could have spent $35 USD again and been just as happy. But at least the location here was great.

Dear OysterJennifer,

Thank you so much for your candid feedback. I'm very happy that you enjoyed our services: breakfast, staffs and our great location. The only thing here is window room, as you know, our hotel located in the city center, our owner tried to design that every room with opened air window. We are so sorry for any inconvenience caused to you during your stay.

We really want to have the chance to welcome you back soon.

We stayed here our first 2 nights in Vietnam. The staff was very nice. The rooms are very small but have everything you need. The bathroom is a little cramped and could use more light. The breakfast that was included was a nice start to our day. They had fresh juices, made to order eggs and noodle soup, and fresh fruit. There was also a small hot buffet and bread and pastries. My only negative would be that we had an inside room with a window to the hall. Because of this it was very dark (nice for sleeping) but I was afraid I was going to oversleep since there wasn't any natural light.

Thank you so much for your feedback to let us know our services and need the improvement. The only thing is window room and our owner tried to design more room with window and natural light even you know that our hotel located in the city center, Hoan Kiem Lake.

On my first two nights here, I had a room with a king-sized bed that overlooked Hang Trong Street. The room was clean, though small. The bathroom was modern. After a one-night boat excursion to Ha Long Bay, I returned to this hotel for another two nights and was upgraded to a suite. It was accessible via elevator and then two flights of stairs.

This hotel serves a breakfast buffet with Western and Vietnamese food, such as pho.

I love the location of this hotel - it's only two blocks away from Hoan Kiem Lake and near lots of shops.

Dear MilfordCT,

Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm very happy to read this comment and know that you enjoyed your stay with us: location, breakfast, staffs and the room. The only thing here is the VIP room in 12th floor, no elevator, we are so sorry for this matter. Because our hotel located in the city center, Hoan Kiem lake and the construction was limited, only 10 floor. 02 more floor( from 11th floor to 13th floor) we build after having the new license. Please kindly understand for this issue!

We are looking forward to welcoming you back soon.

Warmest regards.
