“Great hotel in central area of Hanoi”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Situated in a central location near Hoan Keim Lake this hotel was a very pleasant surprise when visiting this city for the second time. Friendly and helpful staff welcomed us (a party of 4) on our arrival with a cool drink and wet towel. The rooms were a real surprise, very modern, clean and well equipped. If you can, ask for a room at the back which we found were extremely quiet and a great place to have a restful sleep after exploring this interesting city. The tour desk can be recommended as we "brought" a tour to Halong Bay from here. Many eateries abound in this area, I recommend the nightly street BBQ in P Hang Gai (St). Turn right from the hotel and take next left. As usual for Vietnam hotels, a full breakfast is available downstairs which is also a good place to have a quiet drink in the evening. Free WiFi is also available. Highly recommend this hotel.

We celebrated the IMH2012 function in the basement restaurant. For a fixed price we had a buffet with coupons for 2 beer's. My wife and I opted to pay an additional 1m. VND for a bottle of wine. Later in the evening I tried to use one of my beer coupons, only to be told they had run out of beer. I was offered Coke or Coke Light as an alternative (unbelievable ). I could clearly see in the chiller the had cans of heineken & tiger. The manager was no help so we promptly left.

My sincere apologies for this unfortunate incident.

The Manager on duty should have exercising greater flexibility by providing alternative beer types when Larue beer was depleted.

Thank you for your contructive feedback

We stayed at Maison D'Hanoi for 2 nights at the start of our Vietnam holiday. Arriving very tired at 10.30pm we were shown to a lovely room. We found it quite spacious and VERY VERY quiet. The room did not have an actual window but had a lovely indoor garden.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful during those first few days in Vietnam. It was close to the old quarter of town, had great breakfasts and I would definately stay at the Maison D'Hanoi for any future stays.

Lovely motel, all staff very friendly & helpful. Small rooms, but very clean and comfortable. One downside to the rooms is that too much light filters into the room ( I prefer a dark room for sleeping!), so we were awake around 6am every morning! Great location, just off Hang Gai(Silk) street. Easy walk, about 1 minute, to Hoan Kiem Lake. Not a huge selection for breakfast, but certainly adequate.
Great staff with excellent English

We stayed as part of our trip after we came back from Sapa and before going to Halong Bay....
Rooms are not very big but comfortable, bathroom as some pointed out a bit small.
I would definitely recommend to ask for deluxe room in order to have some real light and not just a corriddor light. Breakfast is good. Would definitely recommend this hotel with it's great location.

Pros:
- Location: terrific! In the middle of the old quarter
- Super clean
- Good service, helpful and kind staff (printed boarding pass for free)
- Deluxe room: very big and comfortable bed
- Breakfast: excellent choice, good quality (but see also cons)
- Complimentary coffee/tea machine in the room
- Good wifi service

Cons
- Breakfast room: you will stink like a springroll after breakfast, beware of your clothes after. Maybe it is because they cook (eggs omelettes...) in the breakfast room and ventilation is not efficient
- Bathroom in the room was very small
- Laundry: expensive and service not very accurate

Most of the rooms don't have windows and fresh air! Ask for a deluxe room with windows.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows! Pay a bit more but it worths.

The egg cooking station was located in the main restaurant to prepare eggs as per guests' requests.

Due to the bad smell, we have since moved it from the main restaurant area to the Kitchen.

Our sincere thanks for your good feedback

Travelling with three children the location of this hotel was excellent for exploring Hanoi's Old Quarter. We could head out and get thoroughly lost and have regular breaks to get out of the heat. Staff were always willing to help with one of the waiters drawing a map for the children to help them find Toy street.
