We only spend one night there but I think that it was the best hotel of all our hollyday. Very clean, confortable, very nice staff, good location, they allowed us to leave the baggage and have a sower in the evening after chek-out...and very good price. Not a luxury hotel but perfect for visiting the city and relax and sleep. If i came back to hanoi I'd stay again there without any doubt. AH and we had a computer inside our room with internet conexion, andalso wi-fi.

I travelled to Vietnam in April 2010 in a group of 11 friends aged from 23 to 33. We stayed in Saigon, Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An and Nha Trang.
We didn’t use a tour company. We booked all our accommodation in advance from Australia by email. We also arranged airport pick up in advance through each hotel. When we were in each city we would use the hotels to book us dinners, day trips, taxis etc.

When 9 of us arrived to Hotel Serenity we had 4 rooms booked and 3 of them were upgraded for us, which was nice. We were shown a catalogue and told all about the Hanoi Opera Cruise (Halong Bay), which I had also booked through Hotel Serenity.
The deluxe rooms had windows and harder beds and the standard rooms had no windows and softer very comfy beds. All the rooms were on the top floor which had good views from the deluxe rooms windows. The deluxe triple room also had a computer in it. There's no elevator so be prepared for the stairs! Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap etc were supplied. Perfect location.
The rooms and the hotel itself is all very clean.
There are 2 computers in the lobby.
The breakfast menu is good. I think there was about 10 different choices and all yummy.
The staff are very helpful with info, maps and where to go and what to do in Hanoi.
One night a staff member took one of my friends on a scooter journey to get a board game that my friend was asking about - they really go above and beyond here!
Mr Son was so awesome though because he arranged an epic trip for us to meet the other 2 of our group in the middle of Halong Bay and then have a private boat then car then boat again take us to our next destination after the Criuse, which was Cat Ong Island. Then he rang us that night to make sure we were all safe and happy. Then 3 days later when we were on the way back to Hanoi airport (which was another boat - car - boat - car trip all arranged by Mr Son) he rang the drivers mobile phone to talk to me and make sure we were all happy again! Service like that is rare.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have just come back from a two night stay in Hotel Serenity and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We have never stayed in somewhere so welcoming or with such helpful genuine staff.
Every detail to make our stay comfortable had been considered: complimentary drink on arrival, porters to carry our luggage up the long staircase, excellent breakfast and the rooms for a 2* hotel were a very high standard - air con, TV, fridge (with reasonable drinks), comfortable beds and complimentary toiletries. The staff went out of their way to ensure our time in the area was well spent recommending restaurants, massage spas and sights in Hanoi. Mr Son was brilliant and organised an unforgettable tour to Tam Coc/Hoa Lu (highly recommend this) for us with excellent English speaking guide. Don't bother going to any other agents in Hanoi as Mr Son can organise any trip (private or group) that you require in the the region. The hotel is also just a couple of minutes walk from all the centre of the Old Quarter and the area felt safe at night.
Overall, this is genuinely the best budget hotel either of us have stayed in. The service provided the hotel ensured we really made the most of our short time in the area.

We stayed in this hotel 5 days, the service was just superb. They helped us with everything we wanted. And to practically no extra costs... Valerie & Åge (from Norway).

May husband and I travelled for our first proper holiday to Hanoi with our 3 month old baby and we stayed in Serenity Hotel after reading all the reviews on trip advisor. We were very happy with our stay there as not only were the staff the loveliest friendliest people, making our whole holiday very enjoyable, but they went out of their way to ensure that our stay was a good one. We were even allowed to use our room until the evening on the day or our flight for no extra cost which was a great help with a baby. It is an old colonial townhouse though, with some rooms up high with many stairs so its not so suitable if you have issues with climbing stairs. It is a budget hotel though, so rooms and breakfast etc are pretty basic, but totally adequete especially for the price. Altogether it was a pleasure to stay there, and I would definitely stay there again.
