“Great location and helpful staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

This is a modern boutique hotel set in a small ancient laneway located in the old quarter in Hanoi. This quarter is dotted with old buildings and locals selling various produce, food and anything else you need. Its a brief walk to the lake and centre of town. The staff could not be more friendly and organised to get us on a street food tour at short notice. The breakfast was great albeit I did notice that you might have to wait as the room is small. The junior suite was huge with 2 king size beds.

I am writing this as my future wife and I are preparing for dinner on our first night in Hanoi.

We chose this hotel (as many of you do) because of the reviews on Tripadvisor and like most of you, we often find the reality is better than the reviews.

We arrived here after leaving Melbourne at 11:30 pm and arrived 14 hours later. After an ordinary reception at immigration and a nail biting trip in from the airport (I'm sure the traffic lights are only a recommendation), the taxi door was swung open by a very welcoming and charming Sy (Pronounced Sea).

The hotel is a sublime oasis in chaotic Hanoi. I won't repeat what others say here but if you can afford the upgrade to the larger room 405; do it.

All the staff are genuinely warm and friendly and go out out of their way to help you.

We topped and tailed our trip to Hanoi with a cruise on Ha Long bay, so we are staying here on our return. They have offered to look after the baggage we don't need to take.

Would I recommend you stay here. No I would INSIST!

We stayed here for 4 nights. I'd mistakenly booked a room with a double bed, which was on the small side - they promptly upgraded us without charge to 2 twins and even gave us a free airport transfer - astounding as it had been our error not theirs. The staff were all super helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was excellent for a place this small with all tastes catered for and more variety than many places. Would recommend this any time and would definitely go back. Oh and the rooms were so nice and quiet after the hustle and bustle of Hanoi.

What sets this place apart is the warm service from wonderful staff. From the moment we stepped into the airport pick-up private van, we were treated very well. Upon arrival at the lobby of a small 8-floor hotel tucked away on a small alley in Old Quarter, Duc welcomed us with watermelon juice, and gave us a 10-minute general orientation (map, taxi overview, sites, nearest ATM,departure planning).

Our hotel room was not large, but equipped with all the standard essentials, including a PC laptop with access to the internet. There was also a strong and reliable WIFI signal in the lobby and our room. Our room window faced the back of the building and street/neighbor noise was not an issue. We were provided with a welcome basket of local fruit and coffee and teas.

Each morning, breakfast is provided to the hotel guests in the dining area behind the lobby. Choices include coffees, teas, fresh juices, chicken or beef pho, fresh fruit, and the more westernized foods including bacon, eggs, toast, and cereals.

The staff was attentive, able to speak English and helpful with planning our daily schedules. They helped us catch a 'reliable' non-scam taxi, provided us with walking directions, and provided street-food and restaurant recommendations for our specific food requests.

This is a great location for foodies who want to explore the street food scene that surrounds this hotel. It is also very central to most attractions. It is less than a 10 minute walk to most places: Hoan Kiem Lake, Cathedral, night market, Dong Xuan area. It's a 20 minute walk form the History Museum, Hoa Lo Prison, Temple of Literature.

Room Tip: Above the 4th floor for quieter rooms and privacy. 4th floor window faces a courtyard with housing.

Great location, is definately a hidden gem. The greatest asset for this hotel is their AMAZING staff. They are friendly and helpful. The choices for breakfast is many, and the watermelon juice is amazing. I would recommend to arrange your transfer from the airport through the hotel, as it is located in a laneway that does not have access by car.
Special thanks to Do Duc, look forward to seeing you all soon.

Room Tip: Request a room to the back of the building and above level 3 if able. Whilst the lane does nit have...

We made contact for reservation directly with the hotel while in Bangkok and we knew we would get great service as the replies were quick and helpful. We arranged for airport pick up which was prompt and to me a very easy way to get there hassle free as the hotel is not easy to find in the middle of the old quarters. Its situated down a narrow alley but very centrally located to explore the city as you wish. Upon arrival a refreshing wet face cloth along with a cold drink was provided and by the welcome we received, we knew the service would be good..and it was, exceptional …the staff couldn't do enough and always with a smile on their face.

Our assigned room which was a superior room was small for our liking and asked if there was something else. We were given a family room with two king sized beds, sitting area and of course it was fully equipped as was the bathroom. Unfortunately we could not keep this room for the entire stay and thus were given a superior double room for the remaining time.

Although the room is fully equipped we found it a little small for our liking..other than that every thing else was exceptional. Breakfast was plentiful and varied.

The nice touch here also, is that they keep your baggage for you outing to Halong Bay and when you get back even though you had checked out the previous day they provide water and shower service on their mezzanine lounge.

The staff make this hotel a great place to stay…each and everyone of them is simply exceptional.

We loved this hotel service so much we book through them their sister hotel in Hoi An.

Room Tip: Get a suite or family room otherwise rooms tend to be on the small side.

Hidden a in a narrow lane this hotel is about 6-8 metres wide but would have to be one of the most pleasant places Ive stayed in. The customer service is excellent, from knowing your name and details when you arrive and re enter the building to assisting you to retrieve something you left on the train at 6am. the rooms arent spacious but they are clean, comfortable and well lit with modern neat decor, the ensuites are also clean and quality modern. beds are firm but not rock hard and supportive. breakfast is generous with a good selection to choose from both hot and cold food. the hotel has a lift, is comfortable in temperature and decor and is well isolated from outside noise and its well located right in the heart of the old quarter of Hanoi. I would definitely stay here again
