“Little Jewel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

In the heart of the old part of Hanoi, after the shock of the traffic you are led down a narrow alley and wonder for just a moment if you've made a horrendous mistake in booking the Ruby! Never fear. A door is opened and you step into a clean, smart reception where a warm welcome awaits you from the staff - and a cup of the most delicious ginger tea we have ever tasted. As we arrived late in the evening, they even knew our names. We were fortunate enough to stay in a Junior Suite (505) - very spacious with two double beds. Very nice decor, large walk-in shower, laptop, a good selection of toiletries and other bits, bottle of local wine, basket of exotic fruits, bathrobes, usual tea and coffee, minibar, etc. Excellent laundry service; we went off to Halong for a 3-day junk cruise and returned to the Ruby for one more night, during which time they did our laundry and it was waiting for us in our new room (405) on arrival. Great breakfast, knowledgeable, helpful staff. We really couldn't have asked for more. And great value!

Room Tip: Both 405 an 505 are terrific (Junior suites)

Thank you to the geat team of the Elegance Ruby! We started our trip with the best team. They took such a good care of us. Always there to answer questions, to help us with anything. We had booked our trip to Halong Bay and to Sapa with them and it was one of the best decision we made! We felt in good hands. They are the first on trip advisor and it is so true!
Thank you to everybody!

Before we even arrived, the staff at the hotel answered our emails promptly, giving us their recommendations and working to ensure our visit ran smoothly. The location is old town--we wanted the hustle and bustle--and wow--we got it! Our taxi dropped us at an alley way off an already small street (a North American response would have been of disbelief and "drive on").
Down this alley--the hotel opened up to one side like a glass fronted jewel and we were greated by three people with the biggest smiles welcoming us in. It actually became a game--which we never won--they always opened the door before we could! The service was exceptional--6 star service?- from moment won and continued for every thing we asked for. The rooms are small--but clean and comfortable and more amenities than most 5 star hotels--at a price that was a splurge--only by backpacker standards. We will return when we come back.

Room Tip: Get up early and go out into the alley--it is a microcosm of local life with every kind of street fo...

Stayed a few nights with my family in the family suite. Since this was our first time in the Hanoi area -before leaving Norway, we asked them to arrange a package deal for us, with multiple dates, airport transfer, a three night Sapa tour, Tam Coc daily tour and a mini-cruise in Halong bay.

They were very helpful throughout the process, making recommendations which we were very grateful for later. We met people along the way that regretted trying to fix everything themselves. This is North Vietnam, not Thailand (which we are used to) after all. Things are not as streamlined, and when travelling with children it is good to have thing set up.

The package deal wasn’t very cheap, but the quality and reassurance was good to have.

When staying in Hanoi, the time in the hotel was great. The room was big, quiet and very clean. Outside the narrow street was a bit noisy in the morning from about 7 am, but not too bad. There’s not full time restaurant, but they serve a very nice breakfast and are more than willing to try their best to accommodate any wishes.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. They always keep their attention on you and ask you how you’re doing. We had asked for at least one day in the hotel between trips but misread the dates for one of them, and they changed the date last-minute. Although we sensed that they didn’t like to, they did it without any hassle. Very good.

The location is fantastic. Walking distance from everything in the Old Quarter and places around the lake.

I have to recommend this hotel to everyone. You can’t go wrong with this.

And – Hanoi is incredible 

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing away from the narrow entrance street.

We chose this hotel from reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. We stayed two nights in Feb 2013. From the airport, it's a harrowing 45 minute drive to the hotel (the traffic is scary) - we were glad that we organised a driver to collect us. The hotel is down an alleyway, accessible by only pedestrians and mopeds - a little piece of paradise from the noise of Hanoi streets! Check in was efficient and friendly - lots of beautiful smiling faces from the staff. We chose a Junior Suite (level 7, room 705) and it was perfect. Very spacious with a queen bed, great pillows, fast wifi, balcony with chairs and table and a fantastic bathroom with amazing shower. Very very clean room, lots of natural light and modern decor. The staff are beautiful. Very friendly, with big smiles for everyone. Would highly recommend staying here. Will definitely be recommending to all of my friends!!

We stayed in this hotel for two non consecutive nights in February.
The hotel located in a small alley in the heart of the old quarter.
The staff of the hotel is absolutely amazing, very helpful and kind.
During our stay we left for one night to a halong bay, upon our return to the hotel the luggage was already in our room and they even upgraded us to a family suite room.
The family suite is very large and well equipped. With Two windows, two large king size beds, laptop, tv, DVD and more.
The regular room is also very nice and quiet.
The breakfast in the hotel is very good, with good fruit juices and an excellent ice coffee.
I will definitely stay in this hotel in my next visit to Hanoi and highly recommend it to everybody else.
