“Great hotel, excellent location and wonderful, helpful staff.”
Reviewed August 24, 2011

As a first time visitor to Hanoi I didn't know what to expect. A friend who lives in Hanoi had booked the hotel for the 4 of us. From our arrival the staff could not have been more helpful. They booked tickets for our trips to Sapa, Hoi An and Halong Bay. Organised taxis to get us across town and to and from airports and trains. We paid for these services at the end of our stay which made life so much easier for us. The rooms were a good size and serviced daily. The breakfast choice was fine with commanding views over the Old Quarter Of Hanoi.

We booked our stay due to many good reviews on this website. It turned out brilliant as we had a wonderful time at Golden Sunrise. The room was in a good size and large balcony which was a bonus. The location is just great, very easy accessed to shopping areas, foods and lake. Breakfast was on 9th floor with great view of the Hoan Kiem lake and old quarter. They served choices of food and buffet. The service was great – the staff was so friendly and helpful in helping us book Ha Long and Sa Pa trips. You will never feel disappointed once you book to stay here. We certainly pick the Golden Sunrise Hotel for our next time.

stayed here for five nights. We had booked 2 rooms with balconies for family of four which were supplied - rooms were lovely although the bed is typically firm! We booked a 1 night cruise to Halong Bay through the hotel which was great - many thanks to reception for the reccommendation. We checked out for the night we were away and the hotel held our bags for us therefore not charging us for the night we were away (we thought this was a great service!) When we returned from the trip we were given one inside room and one room with a balcony for a night and then we had to move for the last night to accommodate a group. At the time we didn't want to make a fuss because everyone at the hotel had been so friendly however having to pack my bags and move after one night in the room to have one extra night in another room was unsettling and our last day in Hanoi did not get off to the best start! Saying that it was the only point that I did not like about the hotel. Lovely reception and door staff. Adequate breakfast and the rooms with balconies were great!

Room Tip: Definitely book room with a balcony as the other room did not have a window!

The hotel is ideally placed in the Old Quarter, in the centre of the shopping precinct, very near the lake and with cafes and restaurants aplenty in the vicinity. Staff are very friendly and would go the extra mile to help if there was a problem.

The rooms were of ample size, clean and with an excellent laundry service provided daily. A notebook computer is provided in each room with WiFi connection, a flat screen television with multiple channels and a bar fridge that is replenished daily.

For the Tariff, the Golden Sunrise hotel is excellent value.

Stayed here for a couple of days while we were in Hanoi, chose it because of the good location and reasonable price. Room and bathroom were clean, staff were very helpful and spoke decent English. Breakfast is on the roof with a decent selection. There was free wifi also (as is pretty much the case within Vietnam).

The lake is 1 min walk away and there are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Only negative thing was that our room was facing the road - it's only a side road but the scooters are quite noisy and start up early in the morning.

Having stayed in this hotel last May with some mates, I brought my wife to the Golden Sunrise in August. My reason for coming back is due to the fantastic staff, the excellent amenities, the perfect location to view all the best parts of Hanoi and with excellent value for us travellers. This time I also requested the staff to arrange trips to Halong Bay and Sapa. Both trips were adventures of a lifetime and were arranged prior to our arrival with exceptionally professional communication on the various options and on what we were to encounter. Having travelled the world professionally for many years, I have never stayed at a hotel where one feels so totally at home due to the way the Golden Sunrise staff make you feel so comfortable. This hotel (and their sister hotels) deserve my highest recommendation.

We stayed one night at the Golden Sunrise Hanoi, between our Halong Bay trip and going to Danang. It was a very nice hotel, conveniently located in the old part of Hanoi. The room was good with flat screen TV and movie channles, and there was a computer for internet in our room. Our room also had a balcony overlooking the busy, small streets. We were upgraded on arrival, which was nice. The staff was very helpful and asisted us in all requests. This is a cheap and nice hotel.
