We dined at this charming restaurant this week and I was totally taken by surprise with this delightful place. The staff were very attentive and they met our every need. There was a sufficient time lapse between meals which showed good training which so often comes short in Hanoi. One of the many dishes we tried was a salmon dish which seemed to be everyone's favorite. It was a portion of salmon smothered in a glorious sauce served with fresh bread - it was clearly a very well prepared dish and I will certainly return to re order that dish. We unanimously decided to try their other restaurant which is called Indochina and will report back soon.

The restaurant is very lovely indeed. It set in an old french style villa, with trees. Wooden table, nice ceramic dish, all made the look and feel like home. They also decorate the photos from the old day all around.

The food look very nice, taste fine (a bit sweet in some dishes) overall I'm satisfied with the food.

A bit pricey but worth trying. Service is fine and staff speak English.

We had an 8 course meal for dinner and I found the food simple delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive and lovely to chat to. Each course was just yummy and the serving size perfect. I found the price reasonable and would love to eat here again.
Well worth it.

The outdoor dining area of Le Tonkin Restaurant set in a tastefully decorated garden at the front of an old French villa on the fringe of the French quarter of Hanoi is a delightful experience. The staff are friendly, the menu is extensive and so is the wine list. prices are mid-range. We chose to eat Vietnamese dishes which were authentic but clearly more expensive than what you pay at "local" restaurants. We enjoyed the experience of quier elegance. The one drawback worthy of comment is that the dessert menu is surprisingly sparse given the extent of the menu overall. There were only three desert dishes to choose from. - a creme caramel, interesting flovours of icecream and fresh fruit. I tied cinnamon and cocunut milk icecream which were nice but the scoops were rock hard and needed to thaw before you could eat them. The creme caramel was a serious disappointment - small serve, in a plastic container (like you might buy in a fast food store) and the caramel was burnt and bitter. Spoiled an otherwise really nice experience really.

As you can probably tell, I thought this restaurant as lovely. Set on a back street in the French quarter, the restaurant is in an old house set slightly back from the road with a small front garden used for outside dining. With beautiful old trees, wrought iron tables and decorative menus it is a great setting for dinner. They also have live traditional music and very helpful and friendly staff. The food was delicious. We had several courses just to try lots of things because so much of it sounded so nice.
