“Must do !!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014 via mobile

It was a bit hard to find, but once we found it I couldn't believe the number of different flavours they had. We just did the ice cream by the scoop. There are areas to sit outside or inside. It was clean, the staff to speak English but not very well, but still enough that you are able to order etc.

“Ice cream experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

It was like eating a work of art. Fanny is a fancy place that gets creative with its Vietnamese ice cream. Think Coldstone Creamery with more flair. They had substance with the style, good ice cream.

Ginger icecream cones!
Yes please!

OK, apparently Trip Advisor requires 100 characters, so I'll say more. Fanny is a short walk from the lake, so grab a cone and keep walking. In addition to the (addictive) ginger flavour they have a good selection of other exotic and non-exotic flavours including a deep chocolate. It's all natural and it's good by any country's standard. If you want to rest your weary legs then there is nice outdoor seating during the day, and at night the locals head up the stairs rather than sitting on the ground floor. They have a menu of creations that are art-pieces in themselves and will make you smile just looking at them.

Dear CreativeSpark,

Thank you so much for visiting our Fanny shop in Hanoi. It's great to know that you enjoy our creative ice cream decoration as well as its natural flavor. So happy to know that there is someone loves ginger flavor like me, not many people around me like this flavor. It is highly appreciated for leaving us a good comment on Tripadvisor. Please come back again when you visit Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. We'd love to see you!

“Nice product but staff and paint needs work”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2013 via mobile

Just got back from a fanny ice cream buffet in Hanoi. Agree with some posts here. Place needs fixing up on paint. Plastering was not properly done thus the effect. I find the staff a bit rude. 3 were outside to sell tickets for the buffet. Since we do not know what is offered on the buffet, we asked if we can take a look. Rudely informed that only 1 of us is allowed to take a look at the buffet offering. Now, the wait staff, I saw some of them taking something from the buffet table for their personal consumption. One took some choc chips and ate it. A bit later, he went again to the buffet spread and took 3 oreo cookies and gave it to the kitchen staff. A girl waitstaff put peaches on a plastic cup. Then later i saw her went back and put back the peaches from a plastic cup. Im not sure if that was the one she took a while ago. Then a bit later, she went back again to the table to fill a plastic cup with raisins. She got a cover from the kitchen and put it in her locker. Getting my scoops at the other station, i saw a kitchen staff holding a plastic spoon and tasting some ice cream. I really liked the products but I don't quite agree with how the staff acted.

“Durian Ice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

As I am always on the hunt for durian ice cream in Asia and had not found any decent one in Hanoi yet I decided to visit this posh establishment.

They had some durian ice-cream indeed. And it had a clear taste of durian. For me, however, it was a bit too "refined" with cream which made the rough side of the durian disappear.

And at 39,000 Dong a scoop not exactly a bargain. For the two scoops I took I could have a nice complete meal somewhere else. But then: people come here to see and be seen - and the ice cream is supposed to be 100% natural.
