Wine connoisseurs will find pleasure in Le Beaulieu's impressive wine list featuring selections by our passionate Head Sommelier. One hundred years old like the hotel, this mythical dining destination frequented by war correspondents (Graham Greene, Lucien Bodart...) and also politicians, entrepreneurs and diplomats is directed by head chef Olivier. The decor is a unique Sofitel blend of Indochinese ambiance and French sophistication: marble and wooden parquet floors, large windows overlooking the street, soft breeze wafting from the ceiling fans, lit by chandeliers at nightfall... An exclusive selection of cigars and one of the finest wine cellars in Hanoi, housing over 100 grands crus, excellent champagne and vintage French and New World wines, a symbol of French heritage.

Went there 3 times for the sunday brunch, lot's of choice seafood with some oysters, salmon,...And many types of cuisines: european, asian. The foie gras and the beef is good also. And for the desert, I enjoy the cheese, the tarts and the cakes, althought the bread is so so.
Good international service, great selection of wine. It's expensive but you pay for what you eat, so the value is correct.

After weeks traveling through Asia you sometimes crave for some decent european food, other than pizza and pasta. In this case Le Beaulieu is the right choice. Good menu (apart from wine list, but this is the case for the whole Metropole - for me not understandable) - friendly staff and great food. Unfortunately the ambience is not too great, since the place is too big and cannot transfer to well from the breakfast hall into a dining space.

We happened to have the Buffet lunch at Le Beaulieu on our last day in Hanoi. We were on a very nice 5 star tour in Vietnam, but we soon discovered why they took us there last. The Hotel Metropole in Hanoi is absolutely beautiful. When you walk in, you feel you could be at one of the finest restaurants in Paris. The Le Beaulieu restaurant is bar none, the best restaurant we ate at in Vietnam. The service was excellent. All staff spoke both good English and were very attentive and helpful.

The food...wow. They had a great selection from Sushi/Sashimi to French dishes. Everything I tried was excellent. The beef and fish were cooked to perfection, the breads were moist, the cheeses flavorful. The desserts were positively rediculous. They had all the French standards such as macaroons, various cakes and torts, ice cream, etc. They even had a fresh Crepe making station.

Honestly, I can't think of one thing wrong with the place!

The ambiance of the over 100 years old French restaurant is just way too classy for any other restaurants to beat. The waiters are all professional with many years serving in the industry. They are friendly, prompt, caring, yet precisely, almost like clockwork. The restaurant's famous onion soup is a good way to start your meal. Among many main dishes, my favorite is a beef rossini with a glass of red wine. Juicy rare beef and tasty foie gras really goes well together.
The price might be expensive comparing to cheap street food that are appealing to tourists, but who are going to compare gourmet food and street food anyway. For those who love to eat good stuff, go try it when you have a chance.

We had a very special (and posh and expensive) dinner for New Year’s Eve at Le Beaulieu Restaurant. We had the vegetarian degustation, which was half the price of the regular degustation – thank you, Le Beaulieu for observing the difference in cost, and passing on the savings to the customer! The menu was: baby vegetables in Greek style flavoured with coriander; shaved vegetables and cheese thin tart, aromatic herbs salad; sautéed mushrooms raviole, emulsion; vanilla pumpkin and chestnut velouté; cognac granité; quinoa stuffed tomato, ratatouille, and pesto; brie cheese stuffed with truffles; smooth biscuit, raspberry chantilly and jelly, red berries sherbet. Have no idea of the wines, but the sommelier gave us a reisling to go with our first couple of courses, then a pinot noir for the next couple, and a sweet wine for the cheese and dessert. The sommelier was very attentive and made excellent suggestions, and service was prompt, friendly and efficient. We had a lovely evening.
