“Terrible Service and Dirty”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

Lake View is an absolutely terrible hotel
- Dirty sheets and towels
- Boiling water (funny enough, cold water they don't have, instead, it was all boiling water, so prepare a bucket and let the water sit if you wish to bathe)
- Unfriendly staff; if you like attitude, good place
- Overcharge, the pricing they charge in on checkout is not the same as posted on website or bulletin

Room Tip: Areas near Hoan Kiem are unfortunately tourist traps. Best to try and go a little further out of Ho...

I booked the hotel via booking.com, and even as i arrived very early in the morning, they immediately got a room for me. The room was clean and equipped with a very large flat screen tv. The breakfast was very nice and pretty tasty and they really help you to get around in Hanoi. The staff is very nice and really cares about you!
I can really recommend the hotel for a stay in Hanoi!
btw: the hotel is located directly in the old quarter and great to discover this area of the city!

The room was not cleaned sufficiently. I found insects. Hot water was so sparse, you had to take a cold shower. Wifi not working. Amenities are not provided to you consistently. There were days that I did not get the complimentary bottles of water. Breakfast options very limited. Had it not been for a business trip, I would have left the hotel immediately. I had paid in advance through my credit card, so that was the only reason that I stayed.

There are a limited number of rooms in this hotel that have an adequate view of the lake.
We had booked a room with a view of the lake and were given a room 504. The view was primarily of galvanised roof tops and only if one leaned out the window and looked around a corner could a glimpse of the lake be had. Nataurally we complaned and the next day we were moved to the room overhead 604 which really was great with a fabolous view of the lake in Central Hanoi. We were there just after the tet holiday and so the decorations and lights were amazing.
The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is good. it is also a clean hotel but requires some attention to detail.

Room Tip: choose rooms 504, 604 or 704

Staff were very helpful, English is non exisistant except for one lovely male staff member. Rooms were a little dirty and musty, shower looks good mmmmmmm had big split in bottom and water gushed onto the floor but down a drain. Exchange rates changed a little so keep an eye on that. All in all a good experience

Room Tip: Room overlooking lake is nicier and not so musty, very big room, negotiate the price down.

Taxi driver took us to this hotel when we arrived in Hanoi without a booking. Terrible mistake. We were booked in for two nights and only stayed for one. Beds were made but previous guests itinerary left on bedside table, made us wonder if the room was actually cleaned or just the bed made up. Nice terrace but e table was missing the glass top so couldn't sit out there. Minibar fridge not even turned on so nothing was cold.
Breakfast. 6 slices of bread crusts on table with fan blowing directly onto it to make it even more dried out. Asked for an omelette but got two fried eggs. No juice. Few bananas only. We got the impression that we were an imposition. Worst experience we have had anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Give this one a miss.

I stayed here for 4 nights, resting up as part of a 9 month, 10,000-mile cycle trip with my teenage son (book - Long Road, Hard Lessons). This hotel was exactly what we needed. It was a little away from the backpacker hostels, in a quiet square overlooking one of the large lakes, but still within walking distance of the main areas of interest. It was luxurious for us, but good value. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfasts were good. We met some nice people here. Many were Vietnamese, which we preferred. I would certainly book this hotel if I went back to Hanoi. A great, vibrant city.

Room Tip: Some rooms are odd shapes etc. Ours had no view but was at the back, so it was quieter. If you'r...
