Hooray! I think we have just experienced the worst meal we have ever had! Our Halong Bay cruise was cancelled midway because of impending bad weather. Our booking company "Best Value Vietnam" suggested we stay here. They also requested we be given the US$35 meal for two. Well, where do we start? The 100 seat restaurant was empty for lunch. We only eat lightly at lunch but, rather than cause a fuss went along with the meal that our booking company arranged. 1st course some soggy sliced cucumber, lettuce and tomato. Second course chicken soup that tasted as though it had come from a tin. 3rd course was deep fried spring rolls that tasted as though they had come out of a packet. Now the highlight! Totally overcooked and dry chicken breast with cold (and I mean cold) mashed potato, broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms. We are on holidays and the staff member, who could not speak a word of English, was very polite so, we did not have the heart to make a fuss....We have just laughed this of as another one of life's experiences. Do not eat at this hotel! Other than that the food in Vietnam has been totally amazing.
