Owner description: Situated in the centre of the UNESCO-declared World Heritage area, the Sung Sôt or Surprise Grotto is on Bo Hòn Island, and is one of the finest and widest grottoes of Ha Long Bay.Ascending to the grotto, the way is covered by trees and foliage, and consists of great paved stone blocks.Inside, it is partitioned into two chambers; the first one being similar to a wide theatre hall. Many stalactites hang from the high ceiling, with numerous possible forms and shapes.

The cave itself is beautiful. The view from the top near the exit is gorgeous. However, with a lot of the other cruises also visiting the cave, it got crowded and getting through it was a little slow.

It appears that every cruise comes here at the same time, it was 8am and the bay was packed with over 15 boats. It was a traffic jam getting in to the cave, but once in it wasn't so bad. It is however a shame that there is so much graffiti on the cave walls. Worth seeing on your visit? Not really.

The cave was great, if getting inside, it was more cold but it consisted of many kinds of grottoes that make you surprised. Otherwise, do not forget to buy some bananas to throw up for the monkeys outside of the caves. The monkeys were funny and cute!!!!
