Located along the stretch of the halong coast,it's close to the piers, just 10mnt walk to the nite market, nice comfy room, clean, good amenities, english speaking staff, decent bfast,so it was a good stay. The hotel also offers arrangement to book for the cruise in halong bay,the main attraction in there,a scenic boat cruise sailing through the rocks that look like floating on the water,it takes about 5 hour or so boat ride to go around but really worth the time

Take the deluxe room to enjoy beautiful bay view. Good location, although not in the center of center. 5 minutes walk to the beach, and food and shop center. 4 stars hotel with nice swimming pool at the price of 3 stars plus, thus quality is also 3 stars plus. Mainly group tourist-Chinese/Korea/Japanese, breakfirst is good only for Pho noodle. The room is clean, but small. The staffs are nice, but not always smiling. If you can pay more, take the next door Novotel (at double price), or move to further location Royal Lotus for larger and newer room. But the hotel is still an OK choice during peak season.

This hotel is clean and well located, but not what you would expect from an international four star hotel. The pick of the hotels at Halong bay is the Novotel, which is much more expensive. However, this place while it lacked many four star amenities like the bidet spray in the bath, an LCD TV and an iron in the room. The buffet breakfast is a little basic, but has an egg action station. As with most places in Vietnam the lower level of staff does not speak English very well. They have conference facilities, and it is walking distance to the departure pier for the boats to Halong bay.

Room tip: Ask for a deluxe room, they are much larger, and have more of the amenities expected in a four star hotel. There are a few suites too, including a large honeymoon suite. They kindly took us on a tour of the better rooms (we were in a Superior)

This is my first trip to Halong Bay and since it was a company teambuilding trip, I do not know the price as it is all paid by the company. The hotel is facing the sea so we had a nice sea view from the hotel room. The bathroom was clean and the bed was spacious. The wall however was not noice proof, so with a slight noice from outside, it can be heard from the room. I can hear the sound of vehicle and sound at night. As my stay was quite short, did not explore the restaurant on the top floor so could not comment on that. The breakfast was OK with a lot of variety, however it was the same food for the 2 breakfast that I had taken.

My first visit to Vietnam was in 1994 so I have stayed at a lot of hotels there and watched the quality rise steadily over the last 15 years. Even so, I was pleasantly surprised by the Ha Long Pearl. It is charmless, modern highrise but the staff are helpful, the rooms are perfectly comfortable, the wi-fi works and it's across the street from the water. Every morning I got up at 6am when it was still cool out and walked for an hour by the sea. The views were lovely although most of the time it was hazy and overcast so the famous rocks didn't look as good as they could have. The hotel is a drive from the center of town but minutes on foot from the souvenier stalls, cafes and sea food restaurants by the water. I was there for a conference and so had all my meals at the hotel and the food was not bad at all. The breakfast was not bad at all-they do pho to order and eggs as well which was more than I expected.
