“The only place to stay in Dalat.”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

The rooms are spacious and perfect for what you need. Cleaned daily. Breakfast is basic but more then enough to get you started for the day and beautiful coffee! All staff are very friendly and helpful with local advice.
The best part about this hotel is the Secret tour. It gives you a real insight into Dalat and the Vietnamese lifestyle.
No one else in the area offers this tour, they will tell you they can offer you a tour of the area on an easy rider for a cheaper cost but you will defiantly not get the same experience.
The Secret part of the tour is the best!
I have worked in the travel industry for 6yrs and would say this is the best excursion we have ever been on.
We were recommended this by fellow travellers and when we spoke to many others they also said they were recommend this hotel for all the right reasons too.
The hotel is situated 2-3min walk into town down a steady hill, but if you can't walk 2-3mins up a hill then I wouldn't go to Dalat as most places there involve a hill at some point. It is close to all the restaurants and shops you need.

On our travels we were recommended this hotel by some fellow travelers and its been the best reccomendations yet!
The Hotel is in a great location a short walk from the main part of Dalat, it's very clean tidy and the rooms are spacious with everything you need.
The Staff in the hotel are fantastic really made us feel welcome. Everyone's English was great which made things very easy.
Mr Roy was great gave us a little welcome meetin as we waited for our room told us everything we needed to know about Dalat places to see things to do and good restaurants.
THE SECRET TOUR!!!!
This is a must when staying in this hotel Mr Rot is such a character and really makes this tour. It's not like any other tour I have done. This really takes you off the beaten track and let's you see, hear, smell and taste the real Vietnam. Worth every penny and has been the best thing I have done in Vietnam to date 10 out of 10.
A massive thanks to everyone at the Villa Pink House.

By far the worst of over 20 hotels we have now stayed at in Vietnam, all in a similar price range.

Rooms:
- Smelt old and damp, old style blankets, bath hanging off wall so bathroom kept flooding and stunk etc. Bed ok but pillows were so uncomfortable, have stayed in lot's of hotels so am used to variations on comfort but seriously, these were like bricks in a bag. After a night of no sleep, had to ask for another, but unfortunately it was exactly the same.

Breakfast:
The worst breakfast we have had in 3 months in Vietnam, really because of the lack of it. It was just a manky bread roll, and watery orange cordial juice. Poor.

Service:
Most of the staff were lovely, particularly one guy who played the guitar, very chilled, welcoming and helpful.
We happened upon the owner after a day of staying there, seemed friendly enough, he asked if we had had a good sleep, we mentioned how surprisingly hot it was for Dalat (we'd both woke up in the night too hot) and that a fan would be great, and he quickly said that would be no problem and that he would leave one for us for when we returned that evening. Then, the infamous tour was mentioned, and as we had already met some local guys who were going to be taking us out on their bikes, we declined, and were snubbed a little and basically told we were going to be ripped off and not see anything as good as on his tour (our tour was amazing by the way, more personal, and much cheaper - will review separately). When we returned that evening, there was no fan left in the room, and we went down and asked at reception and were told no, not the good service we were previously promised.

Location:
Out of the way near the hospital, obviously Dalat is hilly, but wouldn't suggest staying there unless you mind a good trek back. Seemed to be a lot of good places much closer to everything you need to see there.

Would definitely stay somewhere else if visiting Dalat again. Not sure where other reviewers have been staying, but I feel sorry for them if this is the best they have found!

We stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We went on Mr. Rot's Secret Tour on our first day and had a great time. It's a motorcycle tour through the countryside that has a few... well... secrets! Let them know the night before if you're not keen to drive a motorcycle on your own. They'll find some other driver's where you can ride on the back. The hotel itself is in a quiet area of town near the hospital. It's about a 15 minute walk to the center of town which we found to be great exercise. We asked for a room on the third floor, with a balcony and a had a great view over the city. There is no elevator so the stairs kept us in top shape as well. Our room was large with two double beds, a moderate sized balcony and a large bathroom. toiletries not provided. No safe box in the room although they will safe-keep stuff for you at reception. Toiletries not provided. The wi-fi was a bit sketchy, particularly in the mornings. The breakfasts were not a selling feature - basically a baguette with Laughing Cow cheese or jam. The staff were all extremely friendly and very helpful. They gave us a map on our first day and pointed out a variety of sites to visit. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you're fit, get a room on the top floor with a view over the city.

This family run hotel is definitely one we would recommend to other travelers. Our room was very spacious and clean including the bathroom. We had a balcony and enjoyed the grand view over the city and mountains of Dalat. Unfortunately the bed was very hard.
The laundry service does a excellent job and is the cheapest we've had on our entire trip so far.
Breakfast is very basic but will get your motors running.
Do the secret tour if you want to see the beauty of the vietnamese landscape and learn about people and culture. It was truely one highlight of our trip and we will take unforgettable memories home with us. Thank you Rot!!!

Pink House was a great hotel! It really did feel more like a house than a hotel, the interior design is really nice all over.

Before, I read some reviews saying they're really pushy about the secret tour and are unfriendly if you don't go. But in fact, they didn't even mention the secret tour and were very friendly the whole time!
I also read reviews saying the breakfast is awful, although its basic, there's a variety to choose from. You get to choose one breakfast item and one drink. The jam was delicious although the butter was completely unspreadable I let them off!

They rent scooters for $5/$6 a day. They give you a map on arrival and point out the main sights. The rooms were spotless - and had a little balcony, good tv, good bathroom. Only bad point was that there was only two plug sockets.

As others have said, the secret tour is amazing and was a day I'll always remember - a huge highlight of my trip. Although it doesn't sound thrilling, its surprisingly very interesting - you go to a cricket farm, silk factory, coffee farm, market, Mr Rots village, rice farm, a waterfall. Mr Rot was very informative and very funny, the places he took us weren't at all for tourists. His sister gave us a fruit lesson which was great because now when I see the fruits in the street I know what I like!

I just have to say - a twin room was quoted to me for $15, a met someone who was willing to share a room so we could cut the cost in half. They then upped it to $20 which was a bit cheeky. When I checked out I'm also sure I heard them tell new arrivals that it was $18 for two people. This is the only bad thing about the hotel but I got over it! Just make sure you are happy with the price you're paying and you'll enjoy this place a lot.

Awesome hotel.

We arrived at the pink house without a reservation at 5.30 one morning and were let in by a friendly chap whom we had woken up. Our room was only available at 10am but we left our luggage and found a cafe nearby. We joined a 10 hour motorbike tour which was long, but very informative, interesting, fun and nerve wracking driving through the chaotic traffic in towns and villages. I would recommend this tour to any and everyone. Hotel was clean, friendly staff, helpful apart from not registering our passports with the authorities the first night so we could not get our visa extension done. A real pain to our timing. Breakfast is a very plain large bread roll consisting of air, with wire strawberry jam or bananas, tea or coffee. Nothing filling ! Good location to walk into town, motorbike hire on site, helpful, with bookin go ward travel, wifi throughout.

Room Tip: We were right at the top, 3rd floor with lots of steps and no elevator so bear this in mind if you...
