Owner description: In its heyday, Dalat Station boasted three arrivals and departures daily. The French built the railway station itself, while the zigzagging tracks were planned and implemented by the Swedish, experts in tricky terrain.

“Another piece of history”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

A quiet railway station in Dalat as they had only tourist trains run at designated times. It was good to see the stained glass windows in the main hall, were well kept and the displayed steam engine and one carriage were worth taking pictures of. We saw the diesel engine driven sightseeing train with two or three passenger cars too. Looked clean and well kept. Worth a visit even if you dont ride the train.

“If your into trains go for it”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

The train station is as built, but I was a little disappointed there was not more historical display of perhaps the building of the railway, maps of where the trak originally went etc. The carriages are recreations, but I doubt they followed any old designs. There isan aold stean loco there and that is worth the visit. The 7km train trip is actually pulled by a deisel. You should ring in the morning to see if there are any planned trips because it only runs when there ar the numbers. If you call in in the morning they may be able to tell you if thre are any planned trips from pre-booked tourist groups. The price of $12.50 I thought was a little steep by Vietnamese standards. THe trip itself is quite pleasant. You will be amazed at the umber of green houses if you haven't already beed to the country side. The train comes up close to them and qwe saw very nice flowers and many differnt kinds of vegetables.

“Boring, the tour guides description was good.”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

Its good to hear or read the history about it but honestly I think that is all that is required. Pretty boring otherwise in my humble opinion, not much to actually do there except see a stationary train or take the train to another place and return for a fee but we would have had to wait 2 hours for the train - it only arrived every now and then.

“Not what I was expecting”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

The railway station is quite a striking building now limited to a tourist train from Dalat to a village 15 kms away. The train journey is advertised as a scenic trip through nice countryside. However, for most of the 35 minutes all you see are houses and greenhouses. Then you arrive at a small town that looks to have seen better days. However, we did eventually find the Trai Mat Pagoda which is very ornate and made the journey just worthwhile. If you are only in Dalat for a short time this is one you can miss.

“That's all there is...”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

As with many buildings in Vietnam, very pretty and photogenic. Not much else to see in the station itself - the "stained glass" looked more like paint on cement. The steam engine and old carriages were fun to clamber over if that's your interest. We did not take the train to Trai Mat or Linh Phuoc which might have made the visit more interesting.
