There's nothing particularly bad about this hotel but for a four star category there's nothing particularly great. I had read that the hotel can get noisy and this is very true, due to the location on a busy street (otherwise great to be close to markets) and the music every night on the top floor. We inevitably moved due to our one year old based on noise level. Otherwise the room was clean enough (yes very squeaky floorboards again a bit of a challenge for sleeping babies) but just didn't meet standards we were expecting given the write up as a 'boutique hotel'. I think there are probably better options for a longer stay in Dalat.

The hotel is in a premier location, the hotel is ok, breakfast is a little basic, but ok. The rooms are ok, there is no AC but we didn't miss it because the temperature was cool when we were there.
Only remark is that the wooden floor is making some noise when you walk over it.

The only really downside we found was the agent where we could book a tour.
We asked for a day of canyoning, since Dalat is great for that I read on Internet.
At first he (his name is Trung) said he didn't know what canyoning is. After we explained he said that it was not possible because the lake is dry and the water level in the rivers is very low.
So he offered us a sightseeing tour around Dalat. We could choose the Hotel tour ($80) or the tour by his friend ($40) which should be the same. We took the $40 tour and ended up paying more than the $80 since the entry tickets aren't included.
The tour was ok, so now problems there.

After booking the tour we got out to eat in Dalat. We passed several booking offices promoting Canyoning (!) We went inside to check it out and told them what our hotel tour guide told us.

He laughed at us and said that this was the raining season, thus the time to go canyoning.

We wanted to confront out travel agent with it, but he was not available (...) for us.

Bottom line, he wanted to sell his tour no matter what we wanted.

I stayed there with colleagues for several nights. The rooms are very nice, roomy, clean and the staff is very nice and helpful. The hotel had a band that played loud music from 7 to 10pm every night and the music resonates throughout the hotel from the 5th to the first floor. There is really no room in the hotel where you will be spared the irritation of this very loud music. If you are on the third or fourth floor you will not be able to watch tv during those times. I went there for work and was not able to work in my room at night. A real problem if you travel for work or if you would like to enjoy the comfort of the nice room and rest a bit from the noise of other Vietnamese cities. The staff tried hard to move me around but really, there was not real solution to this problem, but to wait until 10pm or shortly after when the singer finally goes to bed!!!! This is really too bad because the rest of their offer is quite good.

We cannot imagine that such a 4 stars hotel like Ngoc Lan has no air conditioner. Upon my husband's request, the hotel provided us a very old and dirty fan with loud noise under operation.

Especially, the water is so yellow that my two sons did not dare to take a bath. I had to convince them a lot. Because of the bad quality water in this hotel, my completion was darker after one day. On the second morning of the stay, I did not clean my face by the hotel's water but mineral water of Lavie. The faucet of the bathtub does not work but it has not been replaced. There was so much noise during day and night time so we did not have a sound sleep. The breakfast was so so. In short, we will never stay there again. Hope you have right decision for your coming stay in Dalat.

This one was a great surprise. Our room was very modern and specious, over looking the city market via a classy balcony. Breakfast at the top floor was outstanding. The fresh air and the great staff made every bite a festivity. free Internet in the lobby and great laundry service. The rate was very law. The same hotel in a major city in Europe will charge much much more. Go for the Ngoc and enjoy.
