Me and my girlfriend checked in to this hotel despite all negative comments. What a mistake.

- Room is outdated with a terrible smell
- cockroaches everywhere in our room, we had to change room in the middle of the night due to this. No apologies or understanding from the staff. We also left after first night because of this, and they wanted us to pay for two nights.
- some facilities listed and showed on pictures are not in use (gym equipment and pooltable)
- loud buzzing noise from some compressor of some kind just outside the window of our room, traffic noise
- wifi not working
- no one in staff can communicate in english
- breakfast not for western tourists (not everyone likes to eat noodles in the morning)

We are not picky people at all, we normally go with the flow, but this was just terrible, you just do not get what you pay for.

Do yourself a favour and book any hotel except this one!

This is an interesting hotel, almost a museum with old VWs and lots of photographs. However, unless you like artichoke tea, wooden baths and pull chain toilet cisterns perhaps you should look elsewhere. Positioned high on a hill above the town there are great views but the traffic noise from below is loud and constant, even throughout the night. Breakfast offers little for the Australian palate. Staff have only a minimal understanding of English. This hotel is geared more towards the Asian market.

Saphir is the worst "4 star" hotel I ever stay. Everything is bad. Rooms have smell, carpet on the side of beds are dirty. it does not have hot water machines in your rooms, you have to call them and ask for hot water, it's very inconvenient when you want to drink tea or coffee in the morning. I asked them why they don't supply hot water machine for rooms, they said that they can cause fire ???? Also, no coffee in rooms but you will have it in the webpage
Services are poor, they have nothing, no massage as they advertise in their webpage
Employees are not professional. during rainy season, you will get wet when walking from reception to your rooms. they said it has a way inside go to your room from reception area but the owner does not allow to use that any more without explain.
In generally, this is the worst hotel. Don't stay in this hotel. Owner is very cheap, he try to cut everything. i heard that he is an Chinese guy.

Arriving from Danang very early in the morning there was no hospitality offered so we dumped our bags and went off to enjoy downtown Dalat until 2pm when we checked in. Our room was on the top floor and was bright and airy but so noisy.... so noisy in fact that we had absolutely no sleep.....

Next morning we requested a room change which was given without fuss. Staying here for 7 days needed to be comfortable. Our new room was excellent . With two double beds it was light and airy and so peaceful. The second night we slept like babies.

This is a quaint hotel..however,the hot water in your room is turned off (to save power probably) so you need to search for the switch to turn it back on. Supper and breakfast are provided and soya milk for supper is deliveerd to your room if you don't want to go down to the restuarant. Breakfast is very good.

Nylon sheets and Doona are not pleasant although the beds are comfy.Bathroom in the second and larger room was good. Both rooms had baths.

After our second day, the staff were very friendly and helpful. No request was too difficult and we found our stay very comfortable.

Good: this hotel impressed me with the facade. Super was provided: chicken porridge and hot soya milk. these go well with the cool weather in Dalat.

Not so good: room rather small. staff was not flexible: we have a flight around 4pm and would like to check out around 1pm but at 12:10pm the receptionist called our room to chase us out. quite disappointed.

Stayed for 3 nights on BB basis. Got a standard room - but it was rather small. Not as many amenities as you'd expect from a hotel at the rate we paid. Breakfast was okay, service average and the cleanliness was good. The decor is reminiscent of a Victorian estate bungalow with nice touches. The hotel had some nice touches with a Soy Milk every evening and a Chicken Broth at 8pm daily which comes complimentary. Note, to anyone who doesnt speak Vietnamese - this hotel is probably not for you cos the staff doesnt speak any English. Probably why the other reviews are pretty bad.

Room Tip: Dont choose a "standard option" / Try the higher floors

First the good, older building, interesting layout and setup, vintage car collection parked throughout.

Then the not so good...
1. Rooms are small
2. No A/C (not by itself a problem) but top part of room windows is a grille so this is the NOISIEST night's sleep I've had for years. Also the quaint elevator is very noisy in the rooms from ~4.30am onwards
3. Sheets and bedding are nylon or polyester. Yuk. For the price this is just not acceptable.
4. The cheapest flimsiest toilet paper I've ever come across
5. Poor English skills at front desk (to be fair most of the clientele was not English speaking)
6. The nice looking Bar;Coffee lounge was closed all the time we were there, so no relaxation option.

I would definitely NOT stay there again.
