Bang Tao Beach is a sweeping bay with typically beautiful beaches that are common to Thailand. However, like all beaches in the low season, it is plagued with trash and debris once you get outside the hotel frontage areas. Also, it seems that Bang Tao is lagging in their post tsunami clean-up and redevelopment. All of the access roads are beat to hell, and there are lots of parcels with battered hotels that appear to have been abandoned, or projects that people walked away on. Bang Tao is much more laid back than most other resort areas, and there is a lot of charm to the place... it just needs some TLC... lots of it. I have nicknamed Bangtao "Banged Up".
