This beach is beautiful! Like any beach in Phuket, it is lined with beach chairs, however in saying that there are a few shady areas you can put your towel down without having to pay. I went in Mar 13 and it wasn't that crowded, hardly any people in the water. The water is so beautiful and clean, unlike any other beach I've seen in Phuket. Definitely recommend, if you're looking for a small, tranquil place. Only downside is the trek back up the hill at the end of it, but hey... it's worth it!

One of the most beautiful beaches on Phuket but unfortunately my lasting memory is of idiots doing donuts on high powered jet skis! Obviously more money than sense at 5k for an hour! Why this tranquil beach?!
Other than that the beach is gorgeous, get there early to avoid the crowds and bring a stretcher for the walk back up the hill!
There are about 15 beach huts but a short walk will bring you to View Point Restaurant at the north tip. The food is excellent and they have a few beds set on a wobbly wooden shelf which allows for peace & quiet (apart from the jet skis) away from the busy beach.
Certainly one of the prettiest beaches in Western Phuket.

It is more like a 3.5 star rating taking into consideration of the size and the crowdiness. The size of the beach is small and packed with sun chairs (for rent) but the water was excellent. Snorkelling on the stoney right side of the beach was fun... you can see all kinds of marine creatures there. I even found lots of sea urchin hiding in the stone gaps. Walking down to the beach from the main road was a bit hard for elderly due to the rather steep stairs and slopes.

Nice clean beach, much smaller & quiter than Patong Beach. This beach is more for couples. Lots of stairs to get down to the beach from the road, so be prepared, however if you're relatively fit, you can do this in less than 5mins. Have to pay for parking however we got a lift from Patong.
