This is worth going to if you are staying in cape panwa but I wouldn't travel far for it. There are some great things to see and some hugeee fish... But its a little murky and I felt sorry for the fish.
Lovely turtles and I'm sure they are well looked after.

At 100 baht per adult entry fee you really can't complain at the fact that this isn't an international class aquarium. It has a good number of exhibits and tanks, even including a small walk through tunnel. They have some very big specimens such as the giant grouper, a large sting ray and several other species, but I actually think the best exhibits were the smaller creatures. The seahorse tank was great and so was a tank with fascinating sea shrimps. There were tanks containing crayfish, lobsters and crabs, all of which were interesting. Quite a few of the tanks had no information on the contents, an I'm not sure whether this was because of the renovations although I suspect perhaps not. I didn't really see what was being renovated to be honest.

Yes the building is a bit tired but the tanks weren't in bad condition for an older aquarium.

As has been said elsewhere, the "nature walk" takes you to the turtle hatchery which is absolutely not to be missed. About 6 covered outdoor pools with many baby turtles. You can also see (at a slight distance, probably deliberately) an area where mature adults are being kept ready for release - presumably having been rescued.

The aquarium is right at the end of the road to Cape Panwa and is next to a very nice small beach and has a really nice view west across the Cape and islands. Several food stands and smaller restaurants nearby. We're staying at the Radisson and it is an easy walk, less than ten minutes past several shops, tour stands etc.

We enjoyed the visit a lot.

This is a nice place to take the kids on a rainy day, well done and informative - they do have the Dual Thai/ Farang pricing but its not as bad as other places and also give a discount for expats with Thai License or Work Permit

This is a tourist facility with an ecological message ( Don't mess up the ocean with rubbish or pollutants)– the displays were sparkling clean and the occupants were active and alert, but there were no labels on many of the displays as they were renovating. There is an interesting environmental walk along the beach to the jetty where the research vessel is tied up.
We walked past the hatchery where exhibits for the displays are reared and a turtle nursery where hundreds of miniature turtles are growing big enough to be returned to the wild. There is a reference collection that you can visit that preserves thousands of specimens. The aquarium was established many years ago to research and monitor the marine resources and to establish a centre in Phuket to communicate and promote environmental awareness. The entry fee is modest at100 Baht for foreigners
