Owner description: Phi Phi Cruiser The Great Family Day OutA Visit to Phi Phi Island is a must during your stay in Phuket. A great day out for all the family. The number one choice for your day on Phi Phi Island.

Pretty disappointing. We felt like we'd wasted a day of our holiday.

After a pick up at around 7am, travelling to the dock and boarding etc, the boat left at about 8.30-45. It's about 4 hours (there and back) in all on the ferry/boat which is fairly basic, overcrowded and has very inadequate air con in the lower decks (which smells of petrol fumes) if you want to shelter from the sun for some of the time. Once you get to Phi Phi (c10.30), they continue to go around the island, so you at least get a bit of a look around. Next, you change boats to go to the bay where you can swim and snorkel for an hour. It's not a patch on the Barrier Reef in terms of the coral or variety of fish etc, but they throw bread into the water to bring the fish in, so of those that are there, there are quite a lot. It's not outstanding, but it's the best bit of the whole day.

We then went on to the island to the hotel for lunch, which was not great. The most generous description is to say it was very mediocre and definitely the most unappetising meal of our holiday. After a 30 wait in the queue for the toilets, we then had about 30mins to have a walk around the beach area, which was full of stalls similar to those in Patong, before we had to head back to the boat for the 2.30 departure back again. On arrival back at the port at around 4.30 we then joined our allocated minibus, with a group of others, to be taken back to our hotels. After a few stops to drop people off, we got back at about 6.

Travelled in Dec 2009. This is a beautiful island where the movie, "The Beach" was shot! The water was very clear and blue. Behind the beach, was a national park as well as a tsunami evacuation route.. interesting!.

Cruiser looked great in brochure. Reality was, on the day we booked, air conditioning in one small part if boat. The rest of the boat was uncomfortably hot. Tickets were oversold so there were not enough seats and a lot of people sitting on floor. Two hours sitting on the floor not good. Because its a big boat too it can't get close like a speed boat and it takes twice as long to get to phi phi. In summary I highly recommend a speedboat. We saw a lot of them and they looked great.

Phi Phi Cruiser - based on the brochure we expect more than what we had received, overall disappointing.
Pickup from the hotel was late by over 40 minutes, then the boat left the dock late (over 1/2 hour), left Phi Phi island late (waiting in the boat for an hour), left the dock late by half an hour on return to the hotel. Not impressed.
1 hour for snorkeling, though it takes up to 1 +30 minutes of your time.
If snorkeling, only 1 hour on Phi Phi for lunch, that's it. If you do not snorkel, then you may be able to get up to 3 hours on the island to do a little sightseeing, including time for lunch.
The included lunch was at Phi Phi Hotel, quite good, not a real buffet, and they do not refill the plates on the tables - so grab early.
Get on the boat early to get decent seats - if you can.
Leaving Phi Phi island can be a challenge as seats fill up rapidly - well before the boat is scheduled to leave. There appears to be many more passengers on this boat when leaving Phi Phi Island, than when arriving. This boat also takes guests that are intent on staying overnight at Phi Phi in addition to the daily tours. Most of the people on this boat are on the scheduled tour, though this boat will take other passengers on board.

Would we Return: yes to Phi Phi Island

Would we use the same operation: definitely not. i.e. Phi Phi Cruiser.

Would we recommend this Attraction: Not worth it, for the time spent waiting in the shuttle, on the boat to leave the dock (both directions) and the snorkeling boat, limited seating. There was also an additional 20 baht port charge to enter Phi Phi - no money, stay on the dock, and no lunch.

Fun-filled with magnificent gorges with crystal clear ocean! Excellent guided tours while island hopping. Snorkeling would be a good choice but do remember your sunblock :)
