“Great unspoilt beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

We stayed at the Renaissance which is right on Mai Khao beach. The beach is mostly beautiful - we did see a few items of rubbish around. Swimming at this beach during low season is not recommended but is still wonderful to sit and watch the waves come in.

“Excellent secluded beach for couples with great hotels”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

We loved SALA the hotel that we stayed at, believe Mariott Renassiance and Anantara are also good properties. Loved the food adn the beach. Did not like the fact that hotel tuk-tuk services are not available up to the main road and the fact that airport being so close transportation is expensive.

“Waves are pounding!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013 via mobile

I wasn't able to stroll or go near to the beach during my trip. The waves were pounding on the shore. Grayish water seemed to be boiling at the shore with loud thud. Not so ideal in September.

“Unspoiled and beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

The beach is part of the national park so free from beers huts and sellers. For the most part it's spotless but there are some construction spots further south that have gotten a little messy but I'm sure that'll be sorted in no time.

Set back off the beach outside most hotels you will find massage huts offering amazing massages looking onto the ocean for about 400bht an hour... about 1300bht cheaper than my hotel and just as good! The tide was very strong when we were there so we could enjoy the water but just splashing in with our feet it was so warm. The beach is flagged well so you can see if it is safe or not no matter where you are.

Outside the Sala they have wicker swing chairs perfect for watching the sunset. A really beautiful and scenic beach :-)
