“Avoid the crabs!”
Reviewed July 2, 2014 via mobile

This is a beautiful restaurant with a great vibe and live music, but the proximity to the beach means nothing in bad weather.

I had the crab and it was awful - I threw it up a few hours later.

They have live seafood tanks and the lobsters and fish looked very sickly. This is a very busy restaurant and can get very loud. Would recommend going to the Palm Beach club next door instead.

“New Years Eve at Lotus”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Celebrating New Years Eve in Phuket was one of the best things we have ever done. I booked a beachside table at the Lotus Restaurant at Bang Tao Beach and they were kind enough to send a driver to pick us up from Canal Village in the Laguna Resort. We arrived at the restaurant around 8pm and were greeted by magnificent ice sculptures along the stairs as we descended from street level to beach level.

Upon our arrival we were handed complimentary champagne then escorted to our table which was set right next to the beach where the staff were setting up their fireworks display in the sand. Coming from Australia where Health and Safety has reached such a level that freedom has been forgotten it was amazing to see how close the fireworks were being set up to our table and also people who were arranging blankets on the beach to get a birds eve view of the show.

For New Years Eve the restaurant had an all you can eat Buffet but this was a Buffet like no other, there was a pig on a spit and a BBQ where you could chose your own huge steak and have it cooked by the staff to your preference, there was a seafood buffet with ever kind of seafood you could imagine. Fresh oysters, prawns, lobster, whole fish, sushi and sushi-mi all displayed on huge beds of ice. In another room we found every salad you could wish for and roast meats including lamb, chicken, pork, turkey. There were also hot vegetables on offer and many types of gravy and dressings. The tables were groaning under the vast amounts of food, it was clear that no-one was going to go hungry.

As we ate we watched the free entertainment on the beach, there were fire twirlers, sky lantern sellers, private firework displays it was just a wonderful atmosphere and children playing on the beach had a ball. The Lotus Restaurant offers fantastic service with every waitress and busboy equipped with electronic notepads so anything you order goes straight to the bar or kitchen and is delivered to your table in record speed, there is no 'Thai time' here it is very efficient.

Then came the count down which was heralded by a live band singing the Final Countdown song, the fireworks exploded and everyone Oood and Aaahd, it was fantastic, and to add to our pleasure every single Restaurant in Phuket let off their own fireworks display simultaneously so the whole sky was a mass of exploding colour. There were also hundreds of sky lanterns going up into the sky, it is considered good luck to release a sky lantern, and many Thais believe they are symbolic of problems and worries floating away. We have never ever experienced anything this wonderful anywhere else in the world.

Then came time for dessert, once again we were blown away by the wonderful array of every dessert you could wish for, as we filled our tummies with wonderful chocolate and fruit wonders we continued to watch fireworks which lit up the sky way past 1.00am which was when we decided to catch the ferry home. What a lovely way to end the evening as we floated back to canal village watching fireworks and sky lanterns reflected in the lagoon. If you get the chance to do this just once in your life go for it, my family and I will never forget New Years Eve Phuket 2013.

“Beach Front Dining”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

Lovely spot to enjoy a very tasty meal. The shrimp spring rolls were excellent. Staff were attentive and quick to look after all your requests. On a warm night the occasional little bit of sea spray was refreshing. We enjoyed our visit to this restaurant very much.

“Excellent food. Great value. ”
Reviewed June 26, 2014 via mobile

Tried this on our first night here upon the resort's recommendation. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food great, the bill was friendly too. We ordered a lot of food (probably about 15 dishes) for a table of 8 and the total bill only came up to 3900 bht.

If I had to find fault, it would only be that 1) the chairs felt sticky but that's probably due to the restaurant being right next to the beach/sea, & 2) the food gets cold very easily due to the strong wind.

I will certainly come back again for the good and value for money food.

Thank Thunderbirdz
