“Not comparable to western standards”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2014

Was a little shocked to see Monkey show where they gave the monkey a lit cigarette. I felt sorry for most of the animals as their cages were less than adequate. Animals looked healthy but sad.
Been once and won't be doing that again.

“DO NOT VISIT - this zoo should be shut down”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2014

The grounds are OK for people (giant dragon and crocodile statues) but the cages and enclosures for the animals were absolutely awful. The animals all looked hungry, sad and unhealthy. The tigers looked very unhealthy with little room to move, the elephants were chained and swaying and the crocodiles were all piled on top of each other for lack of space.
The crocodile show was OK (at least they finally got some space!) but the monkey and elephant shows were really upsetting - they looked so unhappy and wretched. Watching fat, dull-eyed tourists line up for their photo opportunities with the elephants, the orangutan and the chained, terrified tiger broke my heart. Someone needs to change the situation for this obviously under-resourced, inhumane zoo and its poor animals. Give your money to conservation groups instead.

“Disgusted”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2014

This needs to stop! These animals are half starved, dehydrated and in cages that are too small and inadequate. This inhumane treatment was devastating. My young daughter and niece (both real animal lovers) were in tears begging me to do something to help these poor creatures.

“Cruel sad place - Won't go again”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2014

Family day out to the zoo to see if it had got any better from five years ago.

Unfortunately it has got worse. The animals are kept in cramped, dirty cages and appear unhappy.

They have animals posing for photographs which are abused to make them face the camera.

There are three shows - monkey, crocodile and elephant. I don't think the content has changed in the last five years.

The animals are abused to make them perform and the buildings are falling apart.

They have plenty of people charging money for the photographs being taken but the money doesn't appear to be spent on the animals.

Do yourself a favour and find something else to do for a few hours, don't encourage the cruelty.

“Very upsetting”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2014 via mobile

When you first arrive there is a tiger chained up on a table that you can get a photo with, they hit it with a stick and poke it to try make it do things and also looks drugged out of it's mind.
As you walk through the zoo it just gets worse, every animal whether it's a monkey, bird, tiger or crocodile is in a tiny cage that's completely concrete and smells rancid! They look miserable and most of them are alone.
When you get to the elephants it's heartbreaking they are in this tiny concrete area all chained to the floor including the baby with not much room to move and all they do is sway back and forth.
There is at least 10 enclosures full of alligators and crocodiles basically on top of each other but half the zoo is empty.
The monkey show is just two monkeys on leads around their necks doing things like basketball and riding a bike.
The only part of the zoo that is cool is you can hold a baby monkey and get photos with other animals but they all look drugged.
Definitely wouldn't take children there!!!
