we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and were utterly disappointed with the kind of service we received , the hotel is an old structured building with dirty flooring in the corridor. We stayed on the 8th floor, the room was quite big however not maintained well. For whatever you call the room service the only answer you get is "I DON'T KNOW", we asked the lady at reception to help us locate a few interesting places to look for around the area again the same answer "I DON'T KNOW"... The staff doesn't speak English which adds to the agony of bad service. The lady or should I say the girl at the reception is busy playing games on her mobile phone or talking to someone she is least bothered about the guests. The food at this hotel is not so great ...and the complimentary water bottles and tea/coffee have to be asked as they are not served as a part of daily service in this hotel. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room tip: Dont stay here

Markland pattaya has a great location . All rooms facing the sea. Directly on the beach . Far away from the Noisy area but still quite easy to reach in a Tuk Tuk (cab) . Giant rooms .

Minus point : " Staff doesnt know english at all . Poor breakfast . Low showers perfect for a 5 feet tall person .

Markland Hotel has aged a lot since the promo pictures were taken. The rooms have been "untouched" since the place was built. Ok, for the frugal traveler, but the majority of the hotel guests seem to have never been outside of their country; thus, using the elevator (pressing all the floor numbers not knowing what floor their on or not exiting quickly out of the elevator); swimming in the pool with proper attire (with underwear on instead); or how to speak with friends in the hallway (shouting seems to be the norm); or keep from spitting beatle nut in the entrance seems to be a cultural conflict with Thailand's (or the West). It would be a nice gesture if the hotel manager opened up a Bollywood bar for the clients; for , it would be enjoyed by the majority of the hotel guests.

Room tip: The elevators are slow. Plan an extra 10 minutes for exiting the hotel.

There is construction work taking place at the front as reconstruction takes place and it is said shops will be built. When you enter the main hall it is large and spacious. There is a hotel office to your left and another one straight ahead; Yes there are two hotels which take up the first ten floors.and possibly part of floor 11.
Groups of Indians are using both hotels. There is about 25 in each group..
There has been complaints from other residents about noise late at night.
On 21st August the two groups coincided and there were 50 indians in the swimming pool at one time.
There has also been considerable problems with the Indians not showering before entering the pool and not wearing the correct normal swimming wear.

If you want to stay at the markland give the hotels a miss and speak to the Condo office
where you maybe able to hire a condo privately on a higher floor/
The location of the building is excellent and views are great from the balcony.

Room tip: Stay away from the two hotels as they are catering for large groups of indians who are moisy . They are mainly yoing men who are just having a good time. There is a Condo office on ground floor who may be able to put you in contact with individuals who will rent you a private owned room.
