Stayed here for 3 weeks while waiting to go to Vietnam for the winter.
Earlier in the year I stayed at Woodland Suites at the North end of Pattaya and hated it, tacky and very German (sorry German people), and swore that I'd never come back to sin city, but I had one set of friends visiting for a b'day party, and another friend who lives in Pattaya who had driven me around a bit and told me that Jomtien was far more relaxed, and after reading the reviews of The Boathouse on here I thought I'd give it another go.
Originally I booked for a week, but extended to three, so they must have done something right.
I had a sea view room on the third floor, and I'd recommend spending the extra for it, watching the sunset with a cold Leo sat on the balcony was a real pleasure.
The room has all you need, fridge, good aircon, good bathroom, safe, and even on the top floor a good strong wifi signal.
The restaurant downstairs is ok, stick to the Thai food, the steaks are pretty terrible, but then it's nearly impossible to get a good steak in Asia.
The staff are very friendly in the restaurant, and the cleaning girls, but the two guys running the front desk can come across as rude and arrogant, they really don't represent the rest of the establishment well.
The only other negatives are the noise from across the street. While the traffic can't be heard due to 2 sliding doors, occasionally some kids will have a party with a car blaring crap music at full volume parked opposite. Other negative is a lack of a pool. I wouldn't swim on that beach if you paid me.
Don't let the front desk rip you off on a taxi back to the airport, they try to charge you 1500 Baht, it should be 1000, and taxis can be booked from one of the Russian travel agents just up the road.
All in all though, an excellent little chilled out hotel.
