“Ideal location, perfect rooms, rich and tasty breakfast”
Reviewed December 18, 2013

This was my following time in this hotel. I adore it due to some reasons: an ideal location, perfect rooms, rich and tasty breakfast. The location, at the beginning of the famous walking street, in front of the harbour with nice view of ships on the bay. Nice beach teracce with a swimming pool and open air restaurant. Nice spacey rooms, elegant bed cloths and bath equipment. The highest quality breakfast in elegant interior. I love this place and I will return here. Every service in this hotel is fantastic. I do appreciate the high level of proffessionalism of the whole staff.

Room Tip: poolview rooms have beautiful garden view

Over the last couple of years I have stayed at the Siam Bayshore 3 times now. The hotel is lovely - situated in great surroundings, clean, comfortable and very well presented. The rooms are very well maintained and have pretty much everything you need. All staff are polite, professional but also friendly and very helpful. Every single one I met was more than willing to help when I needed it and nothing was too much. The service across the board was excellent! There's a good choice of restaurants and the choice of 2 swimming pools - one on the front if you enjoy watching the goings on of the beach or another inside the complex if you like things a little quieter. I've tried a couple of hotels in Pattaya and yes they are cheaper but its worth paying the extra for the comfort and service at the Bayshore. The only slight negative is you only get free wifi in the hotel bar, it would be nice if it was in all rooms but I expect it may have something to do with the size of the complex and the rooms being spread out so much.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel are quieter

My wife and I stayed in this hotel with our couple friends.
First of all the ambiance was wonderfull, you go through a small jungle to the room and it was so interesting. The room was not small and ok.
Breakfast was the best we had in Thailand (even better than one of the 5* hotels)
Location is very good, just next to Mixx disco and at the beginning of walking street.
The hotel has a swimming pool but it was quite dirty.
If you go to seafood restaurant (seafood buffet which you select and they cook and serve) just accross the Hotel and by the sea, do not forget to tell them that you are staying in this hotel so you can enjoy 15% discount.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews and photographs on Trip Advisor and elsewhere. Don't be misled it is not an oasis or even a particularly good hotel. Yes there are some nice features but overall it is an OK 3 star property.
First; Pattaya, if you want to visit Thailand go somewhere else in Thailand as Pattaya is just not Thailand – OK geographically it is but culturally it isn’t. There are so much nicer places where the people are much friendlier, the restaurants better, the beaches and sea so much more inviting
Back to the Siam Bayshore, overall this is a mediocre hotel where the staff are sullen, you don't get the universal greeting and general friendliness you do in other hotels in Thailand - or even in Pattaya - although some of the staff are very nice and the rooms and general facilities are at best OK.
We arrived at the hotel at 10h30 after an overnight flight from Dubai (here we had stayed in a 5 star property - see my review of the Intercontinental Festival City) and to be fair after a sullen greeting they did book us in even though it was several hours before check in time. They didn't have the deluxe double sea view room we had booked 9 months previous only a twin bedded room so we were offered a double room with a pool access. Normally I would have expected this to have been an upgrade but after following the bell boy through the hotel and over a bridge covering a fetid and stinking pool of water we arrived at a room which did indeed have pool access. However it was dark and dingy due to the overhanging vegetation outside and it had pool access because it was on the ground floor and the pool was 10m to 15m away and of course everyone else at the pool had access to the ground floor rooms if they so wished. Off we went back to reception to ask to see the other twin room. We were told that there was construction going on so it could be noisy during the day – it wasn’t except for the occasional muffled banging.
The next room was on the 4th floor overlooking the bay of Pattaya and facing onto Walking Street. The patio doors didn’t close very well, the air conditioning didn’t work properly and 2 ¾ sized beds had been squeezed into the room. I have read another comment about how hard the beds were and it was like sleeping on concrete. This was a very basic room that you would expect in a budget hotel for a maximum of £30 per night B&B in the UK.
I went down to reception to ask if they had any better rooms, a suite perhaps, but apparently they were renovating all of them. What sort of hotel decides to renovate all of their better rooms at the same time?
The next morning we saw our representative (Annie from Travel Asia – we have used this Company before in SE Asia and they have always been good for transfers, tours, etc.) and described the room to her and asked her if she could see if they had anything better. Amazingly they now had a room on the 3rd floor with a double bed. The room was the same size as the other but with only one bed it had more space. The shower actually worked and the air con was marginally better so we took it.
The front of the hotel overlooks one end of Walking Street but it is very quiet and we had no issues with noise.
Breakfast is a buffet type affair with a wide selection. There is everything from Asian to European. There is ubiquitous egg station, a smoothie station and a hot and cold selection. Overall it is very good but you will suffer from PTSD trying to get a coffee! It really is poor, shame really because the rest of the breakfast experience is pretty good.
The “Beach Club” – well what can I say. You cross over the road to get to the private area. There is a bar with one person serving (very) expensive drinks – I think this was the most expensive bar we had a drink in and that includes the 34th floor bar at the Hilton! The towels should have been thrown out 10 years ago – our dog has better. There a few sun beds around quite a nice pool, we never had a problem getting one but it may be an issue in the height of the season. The sun beds are wooden and most are showing signs of wood rot. One snapped in two as I lent on it. I think I read that it is an infinity pool somewhere – it isn’t it is just a pool that filled to the top.
There are steps leading to a small boardwalk on the beach with 4 or 5 sunbeds but I have seen better sand in a builders merchants. There is also a line of washed up flotsam in front of the sea (old bottles, cans and general rubbish) - not at all inviting. However this is in line with the rest of the beach in Pattaya – if you are looking for a beach holiday look elsewhere – Pattaya is not a beach resort. This is also the area of beach that speedboats disgorge their passengers so throughout the day you get the lovely smell of diesel from the boat engines wafting over the area.
The interior gardens of the hotel are very nice full of lush greenery, fountains and a stream filled with koi carp. This is very attractive and there you can also find the interior pool with water slide. We never really used it as we had to cross swampy’s bridge to get to it and the smell was really bad.
We dined in the restaurant on our first night and you can read my review of that on Trip Advisor.
There is also the Explorer bar – a nice concept and quite a nice bar. Happy hour brings the drink down to a level just a bit more expensive than everywhere else and you can access the internet here (as you can in reception) for free. However there are 3 jars of water with some decoration in them on the bar – they aslo contain mosquito larvae swimming up and down – how nice!!! Who puts containers pool still water in a mosquito area?
The hotel in conveniently located at the end of Walking Street – this disadvantage is you have to walk the length of it every day and night as most of the rest of the town is the opposite end of the street. It is also the end with the more Russian restaurants than I have seen outside of Moscow. It is convenient for harbour.
So would we come to this hotel again – put it this way after 5 days we had had enough, checked out and booked into the Hilton which is so much better (you can read my review on Trip Advisor). If you want 3 Star mediocrity then the Siam Bayshore is the hotel for you, if, however, you want a 5 Star hotel go somewhere else. The only reason we lasted 5 days is that we couldn’t get in to the Hilton any sooner.

Room Tip: Don't bother

Dear Guest

First and foremost, thank you for having chosen Siam Bayshore as the hotel of choice for your stay.

Also, we would like to thank you for sharing your personal feedback. It appears we have failed to meet your expectations and we offer our sincere apologies to you.

At Siam Bayshore we do place out guest’s satisfaction as our number one priority, and your evaluation will certainly help us identify the areas that may required some attention on our part on aim to prevent future occurrence.

We do take note of your detailed feedback with regards to the room and check in issue, the pool beach towels condition. All of which have been discussed with the relevant department heads concerned to see how best we can achieve rapid improvement the quality of service and meet with our guest expectations .

Relating to comparing the Siam Bayshore with Hilton and intercontinental, please allowed us to point out that the rate you are paying is very relative to quality of service that hotel has to deliver to the guest.

With this in mind we once again thank you for your feedback and we most certainly do look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel as our valued guest in the future.

Regards,

This hotels is just next to walking street, very convenient for everything. The environment is great including the pools inside the hotel and outside/in the front of the seashore. The service is great, very professional and attentive. The price is reasonable. We really enjoyed staying there for a week. Oh, it is also very kids friendly. They offer babysitting, and have separate children pool area.I would recommend it to anyone who come to visit Pattaya.
