A-One The Royal Cruise Hotel
Ranked #50 of 466 Hotels in Pattaya
Reviewed October 17, 2013

this hotel was recommended by quite a few people. As we got there the room was big but the A.C was not working at all, we were not happy with the situation of the room as well even though a better view was requested. it was extremely difficult to get hold of the manager and asked them to move us to another room or then we leave the hotel. But as an advance payment was done we could do nothing about it. the staff was not at all courteous, very unlike staff in thailand who are normally so warm and welcoming. The bathroom was quite shabby and the shower was pathetic. When we went down for breakfast the room always had a mucky smell and the breakfast was quite ordinary. It was a very bad experience and would not go back there ever again. I even sent an e-mail on my return to the hotel manager but never got any response.

Room Tip: probably none

Clean rooms, good service, amazing location - right at the beach.
They even had Indian samosa's and onion bhaji's in breakfast buffet :)

They asked for a 100$ or 2000 baht deposit fee which sounded weird, but it was returned at checkout.

Room Tip: Ask for room on higher floor

I was suprised many many of the other review comments, as it painted a different picture to our experience.

We stayed on the 7th floor (top) of the new wing, which is not actually new. It very out dated, probably built in the 80's. the newer, more expensive deluxe rooms are in the royal wing...

I'll start with the positives,
1) room size was good and as expected for 4 start
2) bed was firm and very comfortable, with very clean bedding, etc
3) room was quiet, even thou building going on nearby
4) location is good, as beach, Restaurants, Big C shopping mall all very close, without need of passing any gogo bars
5) ac worked well, keeping room cold or cool, as selected.

However, we encountered a few negatives
1) front desk staff are unwelcoming. After waiting 3mins to be served by one of 2 people not doing anything, they eventually looked over and said passports, followed by credit card 2mins later. I appreciate not all staff speak good english' but a basic hello, welcome to our hotel and smile should be fairly straight forward. 2 words in 6 mins is not polite and a warm welcoming.

2) no free wifi in room
3) pool area very small and the sun umbrellas are only placed at sitting tables, rather than sun loungers.

4) Hot Water is 1 temperature - extremely hot, which would scold any child/ adult. No warning signs.

5) the water pressure of both hot and cold taps constantly change. This makes showering with a safe constant warm temperature impossible. You either spend 90% of time jumping in and out, as to hot... Or eventually get used To having a cold shower.

We reported the problem with the hot water. From the response, it was obviously not the first time it had been reported, as it applied to all rooms., as they have 1 central tank.

We can't comment any any of the food, as we did not eat within the hotel.

stayed there during our honeymoon trip,
location and the design of the property and the cruise theme based rooms are the best!
everything was excellent except the hospitality and language issues with the staff,
they should select in more English speaking and trained staff,

If they give u a sea view room, ur lucky but if they give u the room behind the main building, don't expect too much!
The room we had was spacious with marine decor, was cleaned everyday; beds were comfortable just don't forget your tooth brush, they won't give u any!
Staff not very helpful, breakfast is everyday the same, but don't forget to try different kind of coffees they have but u might ask for them.
The location is very well situated; next to the hotel is the beach.
Alcazar and Big C are just behind the hotel in a short distance.
Two small pools next to each other with warm and salty water.

Great hotel. 2nd time staying here. Spotlessly clean. ( they where even cleaning the grout in the floor tiles with a Thoth brush). Rooms big and a great pool. Good location away from the madness of Walking street. 5 mins in tuk tuk 20 baht to get to walking street. Would have no problem recommending this hotel.
