“Jomtien”
Review of Jomtien Beach

Reviewed March 21, 2014

Thailand is a wonderful land for vaccations - but it is a must you find the rights place. For me Jomtien is "too much". The Beach are perfect but overcrowded with people, rubbish and venders.
We are not comming back to this part of Thailand but indeed another place.

After visiting the ‘Buddha On The Hill’, we took a baht bus in the wrong direction and ended up on Jomtien Beach. It’s noticeably quieter than it’s neighbour in Pattaya.

For those unfamiliar with either; there is an abundance of pre arranged deck chair seating available for a small fee. Through payment and making oneself stationary you can find yourself subject to being approached by hawkers who offer food, goods and services as a means to their income.

On this occasion we chose to stop in a nearby shop, bought a drink and some snacks and sat on some concrete seating, observing a volleyball game that had just happen to occur from a short distance.

There were a few tourists nearby attempting to get some sun, lying on towels on the beach. However my advice to them and too you, if you are in the area and wish to sunbath more exclusively, perhaps a trip to one of the quieter beaches on Koh Larn would be in order.

Jomtien beach is a lovely beach. Golden Sand and a great promenade for walking from Pratumnak to Jomtien. However, the amount of actual rubbish including plastic bags, plastic bottles and general rubbish is hateful to see. Why is it that in Thailand locals and tourists simply drop their rubbish on the beach , along the side of the roads etc. It attracts vermin and looks unsightly. I will continue to take my daily exercise on the beach but just be prepared for the eyesore.

Jomtien is just another beach covered in sun brollies. Venders hassle you every 10 minutes unless you pretend to be asleep.
water quality average.
Close to BKK.

All beachstands provide beachchairs and parasols. There's a wide selection of food and drinks at all the places. We prefer beach stand nr. 29 ( next to "Rabbit Resort" at .nr. 30) because the staff here is really nice.
