“Very intersting”

We first saw this back in 1989, when it was already about 5 years into construction. Now much improved with guides and workshops.

“Wooden temple by the sea - Breathtaking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

This was my second visit to the Sanctuary of Truth after about 5 years and the concept of a wooden temple by the sea still takes your breath away. The views are amazing, the breeze is wonderful and the temple has acres of carved wood. The entire building is covered with intricate wood carvings and just thinking of the amount of labor put into the construction amazes you. No wonder it is still a work in progress after so many years.

They have a workshop in the complex where the new pieces for the temple are continuously being created. You can actually see the craftsmen at work and also buy souvenirs.

Definitely worth a visit.

“A novel experience in Pattaya”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

We went to the Sanctuary of Truth when we were in Pattaya recently. A shuttle took us directly from the Amari Orchid Pattaya.

This sanctuary has statues, concepts of Buddhism, Hinduism and Chinese culture. We were in a group which was quite fun and the guide was also very helpful. After the tour of the structure, we were treated to some graceful dancing by the local artisans as well as an exhibition of Thai sword fighting and stick fighting.

It is definitely worth a visit here.

“Being a christian-a truly open, respectable window into other religions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

We returend home to Italy just yesterday from our trip in Thailand (family). One of the places we visited was the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya which is about 1hr and a half by road from the caiptal, Bangkok.
It is an edifice that looks like something out of a mystery movie because it has a strange gothic shape. In reality, it is a buliding that's been in construction for the past 30 yrs and won't be finishing any time soon! It is all made of wood, the nails too. There isn't an inkling of metalic nails - except for where they've been used for temporary works of scafolding, etc.
It was started and sponsored (now continued by his descedants) by the late LEK VIRIYAPHANTS (who also founded the Erawan Museum of the three headed elephant in Bangkok which we also visited - but this is anothet story).
Whilst the exterior architecture might seem rather stange, (with the help of a good guide as we had), you'll find the interior a real treasure island of knowledge and understand the meeting of 3 religions therein. We are catholics but were able to find and sense respect for the Thai, Chinese and Hindu religions that were depicted here.
We can say that it is a real labour of love celestial.
Forget about all the other stories regarding Pattaya (except that, is what you're looking for anyway - fine - it's a free world so long as you leave children out of it!).
It's really worth visiting -its' rather informative and beautiful.
