“Beautiful building with extra activities included”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

Booked this tour through hotels2thailand on the internet and paid about 1,350 bht each which included an elephant trek, speedboat excursion, wood carving and lunch plus transfers to and from our hotel in Pattaya.

It felt a bit unorganised when we arrived as no one seemed to tell us what we were doing first and when lunch was etc. we were directed towards the elephant trek first which was a lovely trek, however i have never in all my life seen elephants being treated so badly. The keepers were constantly whacking them with there hooks shouting at them. They didnt seem to know what they were doing with them considering elephants are such clever animals and are easily trained. I have been on many elephant treks before and was displeased to see them being treated so badly.

We were then told about the thai cultural show which started at 11.30 so headed over there. This was a great lil show, they even got my partner involved in the sword fighting which he loved! This is where we were given our lunch (unknown to us as they just brought us menus out if the blue)

We then had to find someone to ask where we needed to go next but they seemed clueless and said to look round the building whilst they found out. The sanctuary itself was amazing, everything is built and carved from wood, which is still incomplete, not sure if this is due to the guy that funded it being dead now

The speedboat was a really good experience and great fun would recommend doing that

Finally the wood carving wasnt really worth seeing as they only seem to start working when you appear which seemed a bit odd.

Okverall i would recommend a visit here but maybe pay for the activities you want to do when there. Entry fee is about 500bht if you dont book through a tour operator and activites vary from 300bht upwards

“Be awed!”

Amazingly beautiful wood carving.. the whole structure is a piece of art. The horse carriage is such a nice experience and the staff took our pictures for us free - very rare for a tourist spot as most of the place we go to would charge. We ate the Sanctuary and I love their prawn omelette and steam fish!

Worth visiting. Takes about 1-2 hours.
The place is located at Pattaya Naklua and easy to find. You can go there with public transportation or with pattaya biking.

“What a gem”

The work that has gone on here and continues at the factory is wonderful. The carvings and building are out of this world. Needed longer here. The guides are brilliant and so knowledgable. A must visit
