A Perfect hotel for singles, couples or group of friends!! Completely by chance, I and two friends had the pleasure of staying at the Richman Poorman Guesthouse and what a fantastic experience it was. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and where really disappointed to leave. (To put this into perspective firstly, we had originally only planned to say for a couple of days.... and actually ended up remaining there for the entirety of our stay in Thailand and secondly I have never felt obliged to bother writing a review before, but Richman Poorman deserves it as do the husband, wife and staff who run this establishment)
Very appropriately called, "Richman Poorman", it was as the name suggests. Everyone gets treated the same, and you are made to feel like a king no matter where you originate from. Eddie from New York and his Thai wife are a pleasure to speak with and to be around and were the most gracious, friendly and helpful hosts you could ever wish for. No matter what your problem or issue, large or small, it is their pleasure to try to solve it for you. Whether you need directions, advice, recommendations, and translations or if you simply need a taxi, both they and their staff could not have been more eager to help and please.
The food and drink in the restaurant is of a good selection and this is reflected by its popularity and the service they provide. The food can be said to be nothing less than fantastic, both Thai and Western options, Inspired by big American portions (which always left me feeling full). With Great taste and unbelievable value for money it really can't be beaten. However, I would personally recommend in particular the breakfasts that I cherished and looked forward to every day. I would certainly recommend you to try them at least once, (but be careful) as you will be back for more! A concrete testament to the great quality of this food and service provided is the very popular and strong local following of expats and Thai people. I met many of these expats during my stay and also other tourists from many different nations. What’s outstanding though is that here you can feel the overwhelming sense of camaraderie, friendliness, togetherness, fun and humour that will make your holiday and stay very memorable. Also may I add this is a really good opportunity to gather local knowledge and information that icould be invaluable to your stay in Thailand and this also made it the most enjoyable place I have ever been.
The rooms are comfortable, quiet, and very clean. Some also have great views of the ocean at very reasonable prices’. All rooms come well equipped with everything you need like TV, hot shower, air conditioning, mini bar and most importantly a safe (use of which is free of charge). All the cleaning staff are fast, efficient, effective and very friendly, replacing you with fresh towels and complements every day. As for the rest of the staff I have never met such a nice, well oiled, genuine, hardworking and truly trustworthy bunch of people with an attention to detail every day. They truly do their utmost to look after you, and make your stay as pleasurable as possible. With a quick serving of ordered food and beverages and no bar ladies running around trying to acquire drinks or hassle you for money makes the atmosphere downstairs a relaxed and very pleasing one.
As if it couldn’t get any better, the location of Richman Poorman is ideally located in Jomtien (a family orientated, quiet place) just a little outside the sometimes quite crowded, busy night life and markets of Pattaya; however near enough to go by baht bus in under 15minuets. Richman Poorman is also located a stone’s throw away from the beach (with jet skis and other water sports). Also about six metres away there is a 7/11 or Family Market for any everyday items you may need. Only seven meters from the guesthouse are continuous service of baht buses which cost 20Bart or roughly 50pence for a short ride into Pattaya which is where Walking Street, most markets and tourist attractions are affluent. Lastly a range of high quality Seafood and Thai Restaurants are just nearby within a 2-10 min walk.
In conclusion The Richman Poorman Guesthouse is just one unique place and one unique crowd with great stories…… just fantastic and once you have been you will definitely want to return soon.
