“Mixed bag: Great room let down by poor front-desk staff”
Reviewed April 30, 2010

+ points: family room is huge and very well laid out with a nice verranda/seating area, and good value at 4,040 baht/night; the pool is a good size and sunny with plenty of loungers; the location is pretty good - literally right on dolphin roundabout;
- points: Rubbish front desk #1: We booked a room for 5 nights using the hotel's own website. We arrived to be told the room was not available (how did their own website let us book?), we were accommodated in 2 small garden bunaglows which were really tiny and inappropriate for a family of 5; The next day we were told the incumbent had been granted a late-check out til 1500 - despite them knowing we had reserved the room(!); Rubbish front desk #2: It took about 45 mins to check us out including retro calculators and 4-sets of paperwork, heaven forbid trying to check out when it's busy! Rubbish front desk #3: Thailand is supposed to be the 'land of smiles', the receptionists were miserable and unhelpful. On-site services are mightily over-priced: Internet is a rip-off at 50 baht/30 mins, beer is a rip-off at 90 baht for a small bottle when you can go to the minimart 200m away and get it for 35 baht; Airport taxi 2,500 baht when on-street can be found for 1,600.
Breakfast was limited and repetitive and in our case avoided.

The hotel seems to be used by a lot of German and Russian package tourists, which may or may not be your cup of tea

Rooms very small. Had 2 single beds in the room and a camping bed with very thin and dirty matress. Only shower in bathroom that messed water all over the floor as the floor was the shower. No devide between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. Breakfast was okay. Swimming towels need replacement. Only nice thing about this hotel is that its close to shopping.
