“Excellent stay at Royal Cliff”

We have been visiting the Royal Cliff Beach Resort for more than 20 years, and have just returned after 29 nights. The staff throughout the hotel could not have been more helpful or attentive and that includes Panga Vathanakul, the managing director, right down the the lifeguard. Our room was newly renovated and had a fantastic view, it was always kept very clean. The facilities are excellent and the food in the resort restaurants is second to none and great value for money. We would highly recommend the set menu in The Caprice restaurant. We are already looking forward to our next visit and we would thank the hotel for making our time there so enjoyable.

I'm an expat living in Pattaya... My family and I visited 4 outlets over 2 days in this family run hotel that I have been visiting for more than 22 years... As always it is a great pleasure to return to see the older reliable faces in the F&B departments and the owner Khun Panga... Always a smile and chat with the staff and guests alike as she walks around...

Breezeo faces the Andaman sea with a laid back atmosphere you get to by lift, as you look out from the lift window you may assume that you would get wet as all you see is water till you arrive at the restaurant... Service was polite and attentive and were very happy to chat with my mother in her wheelchair and advise on what was in their special coffee...

The lobby bar in The Royal Cliff Beach Hotel with resident Filipino live band was an attraction as we could just sit, relax and while away the hours chatting in comfort sipping mojito cocktails from nifty glasses that have a bubble on the base so the glass tilts and rolls but never spills a drop...

Panorama restaurant has a nice relaxing atmosphere with inexpensive food selections both catering to Thai and international palates...ample attentive staff on duty to replenish drinks and ask how your day has been... With a fitting end firework display viewed from both the indoor and outdoor section of this restaurant...

Finally the Grill room has a huge wine cellar and you are perfectly surrounded in warm hues of teak... A varied selection of grills of superior quality with vast wines that your waiter can most humbly advise what is best to go with your perfect meal...

The guiding hand for all the outlets is Khun Paitoon, the Food and Beverage Director who has been here many years...as always a pleasure to meet and speak with him.

Be advised this property is a huge expanse of 4 hotels, 11 Restaurants, 11 Bars, 6 Pools, 2 Beaches, Tennis Courts, Squash Courts, Health & Fitness Club, Golf Pitch & Putt, 2 Spas, 53 Meeting Rooms, Kids Club, 2 Helicopter Pads and the PEACH Convention Centre...

We will be most happy to return and try the rest of the facilities in this piece of Royal Perfection in Pattaya.

Room Tip: I did not stay as a guest...so can not review some points...

First,we reserved 2 rooms. One for me and one for superior. However, they can't find our booking even we got the confirmation on hand. Staff are not really helpful even we wanted to make a local call for checking our booking.They have million excuses that don't let us call. Finally,they put my superior to stay at another place.

For the location, it is very far away from city and can't order any taxi. You only can use the hotel expensive transportation, "limousines" (every ride at least 300baht* up).

For the room, old and VERY SMELLY. Everything look very dirty in room. The most scary is their slippers which is not the new one(not disposable). We don't mind it is not disposable, but at least the staff MUST CLEAN them because it looks really dirty and black. I definitely not dear to wear. We even took the pictures for showing everyone what i saw!!I stayed MANY hotels/hostels over world, but we never seen such a horrible slippers and smelly hotel.

For security, they don't have double lock which is not the main concern for me, but for my superior. However, the cleaner left their MASTER KEY in my room!!!So if it is taken by someone , he can open all the rooms he wants even the guests are in the room (the room has no double lock). It was SO TERRIBLE!! So security!!

There're are thousand of good hotels in Pattaya. Never choose this one!!!

Room Tip: Don't choose this one, you would find a MUCH better one!

Firstly let me convey our sincere apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced during your stay.

Feedback is of utmost importance to us because it assist us in keeping up our high standards and therefore we really appreciate your comments

However, with the details provided in this forum (unfortunately) we are not able to identify your booking (name and rooms number) and therefore we can’t comment on the booking issue you refer to but we hope you will send us the necessary details so that we can review the process and see what went wrong (please mail to wannarat@royalcliff.com).

In reference to the key card left in your room I like to let you know that we have a strict policy and we are very interested to verify if this was exactly what happened as it will have serious consequences for the staff concerned (but sometimes our staff is hold a spare / deleted key cards to activate the electricity slot – those are not master keys) because we take hotel (guest) security very seriously and the management will not compromise on that.

Nonetheless, we are all disappointed to read your review especially when alongside it there are some great comments and experiences that other guests have enjoyed.

Further, I am very proud to share with you that our owning company re-invested substantially over the last couple of years to keep the product up to date and to increase convenience for our valued guests.

In fact over 70 percent of our rooms inventory was recently refreshed and updated (take a look at our newly renovated rooms by clicking http://www.royalcliff.com/luxury-hotel/beach-mini-suite-plus-mountain-viewsea-view.php) and this will continue as it is aligned to our (owning) company culture (and strategy).

We decided a quick getaway to Pattaya, while in Thailand. Usually we stay at a 5 star hotel and we assumed that the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel would be in the same category. Not sure, why there are consumers indicating this is a great place and also noted as a 5 star. But from what we experienced we call this an average hotel and do not see anything to special about it. Maybe it is because we were placed on the 6th floor where: 1. You had low ceilings and it felt really small. Please note I am only 5'6. 2. If you have a cell phone, dont bother bringing it out because of poor connection. 3. High Speed Wireless internet feels like you are in the dark ages, might as well own a modem. 4. The room is really old and I mean old. The only thing new was their flat screen television. Which we were surprised. 6. Drapes where dirty and seemed like they were never cleaned. 7. Bathroom feels like you are using a fast food diner restroom using their normal industrial toilet and calcium clogged showerhead.

What to know:
Staff - Friendly and helpful at least this was a plus. (travel points, and shopping suggestions)

Hotel - It is just OK. Nothing too great about it. I give it credit that it is a large hotel and you have a view of the sea cliff. But once again nothing to special to make me go WOW. There are other hotels, in the area which we believe can really fall into the 5 star category but not Royal Cliff Beach Hotel.

Rooms - Large rooms but very old. But does not come close to a real 5 star hotel. Not sure again why people put this hotel in this category. The picture is even misleading. Mold and mildew stains on drapes. The way we look at it was that the room was just used for its purpose. To sleep, wake up and hit some nice key points while in Pattaya.

Royal Cliff Beach Hotel is just ok and nothing to great. If you are looking just for a place to shower, sleep and go out and about. Then this maybe the hotel for you. If you are looking for something romantic or even relaxing to make it like real getaway. This is not the place.

It is correct that Royal Cliff Hotels Group is a fully integrated resort consisting of 4 buildings (4 hotels) set 64 acres of land and beside the over 100 awards we archived (that are indicative of the level we operate) all 4 hotels are certified (by the respective authorities) 5* hotels – However each hotel has its distinct style and character – namely

Royal Cliff Beach Hotel (Casual Luxury)
Royal Cliff Grand Hotel (Formal Luxury)
Royal Wing Suites & Spa (Ultimate Luxury)

In regards to your comment on the room condition and design I am very proud to share with you that our owning company re-invested substantially to keep the product up to date and to constantly increase convenience for our valued guests. The area in the bedroom is 2.60 meters in height. The room size is 40 sq. meters inclusive of Balcony and bathroom. We have received a lot of comments from guests who like the arrangement. The 6th floor are new rooms and has just been redecorated with Thai style. It has a raised area for lounge area.

In fact over 70 percent of our rooms inventory was recently refreshed and updated (take a look at our newly renovated rooms by clicking http://www.royalcliff.com/luxury-hotel/beach-mini-suite-plus-mountain-viewsea-view.php) and this will continue as our (owning) company culture (and strategy) prescribes us to do so. Iwent to this resort in March 2013 with my family including my 1.5 year old son and were mighty pleased with our experience there. The rooms were very comfortable and had good views and hte food was excellent. there was a wide variety of food ranging from traditional Thai to Continental to Indian (for our parents). The staff was very courteous and helpful. The only hitch was the staff at the Indian restaurnat: the staff was downright rude and not interested in delivering any service at all. quite a putting off visit, thought he food was not bad.

Close proximity to the main city was another advantage and the travel desk helped us plan our visits to the Noong Nooch Village, Gem Factory and the Coral island.

The staff just upgraded me and my friends room from mountain view to sea view right away after found out that the room wasn't ready to check in at the time we're arrived.I went the with my friends family.The kids were enjoyed pools and play room.The room I stayed was nice,it has a small balcony and look at the ocean and also have a Television area with comfy sofas.

The only bad thing about this hotel is staff at restaurant they have no intention to serve the customer many time we needed to get up and pick spoon or pepper etc by ourselves....got this from main restaurant and also the one that u needed to go down below 1 - 2 floors next to the beach....they should be training better than this

i was there last year on my honeymoon. i had booked a mini suite. it had awesome view of pools n sea. room was very well maintained with nice interior. loved the swimming pool. nice view of sea while swimming. for buffet brkfst, there were soooo many things to have on platter, it would take a week to taste all. would love to come back.
