I booked a trip to Pattaya a month ago, not knowing what to expect. I assumed staying at the Marriot would be fail-safe as it is a corporate hotel chain with set standards. Upon arrival, there were 2 bellman at our disposal, assisting me and my friend with luggage. At the check-in desk, we were greeted with friendly guest service agents, and was given some kind of juice (it was extremely good!) with wet towels. We were then escorted to our rooms by one of the guest agents, and given a mini rundown of the services the hotel offers.

We were initially checked in to a twin room, while we requested a double. After notifying the guest agent, they immediately switched us to another room down the hall. The rooms look like they have been worn out, and could use a little bit of renovation. The rooms have no wifi, unless you're willing to pay a fee (imo, wifi should be included in the room rate). The lobby has free wifi, but does not have air conditioning. Our room had absolutely no view of anything; if we looked outside, there were nothing but trees. The breakfast is excellent though, with a wide selection to choose from.

The beach is a convenient 3 minute walk outside the hotel, but the water is extremely dirty. At night, one can see cockroaches and mice roaming just beside the waters.

Overall, the hotel is average, and is in need of a renovation. However, because of the superb staff, I rated this hotel 4 stars.

Great location and wonderful atmosphere. A resort-styled property set amidst lush tropical gardens connected to a shopping mall.

Wonderful staff at the front desk with true Thai hospitality. Stayed in a Premium Sea View room and seems that they have fixed defects that were present during our last stay. The toilets has been re-done and now there are proper drainage. The beds are very comfortable, A/C seems to be working properly and the hotel is still perfect as it was before.

Staff at the Garden Cafe are still as friendly as before and breakfast selection and spread has been greatly improved. It seems that this hotel has a very wonderful and competent management as every time we are back, they have improved and improved. It just keeps getting better and better.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on higher floors and away from the elevators.

This hotel is so good I am writing review whilst still here. I stayed in Terrace Suite which is steps away from the pool and the exit straight into the adjoining shopping plaza is very useful. The exit onto beach road is also real useful. If you come to this hotel it is also visitor friendly but for your own safety just book your guest in at reception and they photo copy their ID card for your safety. Just book them out when they go and your next guest if you like that sort of thing is then free in the same procedure. The housekeeping is first rate as is the always helpful and pleasant reception staff who will assist with anything and are so friendly. Bearing in kind this is party city compared to a Friday and Saturday night in England it is a dream. No drunkenness or fighting seen at all. All are friendly here. There at bars galore and ladies galore if to like but a polite n thank you and was on is all it takes so please don't come to Pattaya and moan about the nightlife. This place is full of energy for all you want wether just company for dinner or more.
This hotel and city highly recommended for hustle bustle god times and good cheap food.

This is an amazing property, good rooms with balcony, rooms above sixth floor have sea view,
However price is slightly high.
The hotel has 2 side entry/exit. One exit opens at a central mall and just in front of walking street. The Other main entrance is at the Back main road. The hotel has no restrictions on guests. . And is good for people coming with intention to Have fun with girls/boys.
It is a resort property and has a good relaxing ambience.
However for kids I think hard rock is a better option, but for couples, bachelors, spinster, and for romantic people marriott is an excellent Property.

We stayed at the Marriott for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. Some of our favorite things were available to us because we are platinum Marriott members but the hotel was great.

When we arrived, there was easy parking/valet for our rental car and the bellman and front desk staff were ready to take care of all of our needs. We were initially upgraded to a very modern and beautiful garden suite which was an amazing room but didn't have a view of the ocean. We asked to not take advantage of the upgrade but get a room with a view and they took care of it right away. We definitely recommend a 10th floor room with a view of the ocean. The activity in the morning with the sunrise, all the boats, jet skis, and parasailers is incredible.

The Good:
- Service was great. The staff remembered our names, gave great recommendations on local places to go for a drink or dinner, and were always friendly. Their English was alway amazing.
- The pool area was great. A lot of space for people, it didn't feel over crowded, it was quiet and the surrounding gardens are amazing. Although we were in this large, noisy city, it was very tranquil and relaxing in the pool and garden area.
-The food was good. We only ate at the swimup bar once for pad thai but it was good. Breakfast was also included in our package. It was buffett style with western, asian, and even middle-eastern style food.
- Great location. Right across the street from the ocean, a 5 minute walk to Walking Street, and close to many markets, several mega-malls, and some neat side streets

Not so good:
- There were a lot of kids at the pool if you are looking for an adults-only type of place

Room Tip: 10th floor with a view of the ocean. The suites are amazing but the one we saw only had a garden vie...

Service was good but it defintely needs a room update. The breakfast was more than acceptable but the dining room is looking like something out of an eighties movie. We went for a weekend break, which was fine. It is in the centre of pattaya....not sure if thats a good thing, personal taste I suppose. We chose the marriot so we didnt have to leave the hotel, we did end up leaving as the buffet dinner was ok but not what we were expecting from a 5 star Marriot. Very nice gardens and pool with bar. We would go back if there was an update in the pipeline. We also asked for a baby cot, which we refused as it was very old and dirty. Not something we were expecting from the Marriot.

And you'll know it's right on the beach if you get put in a room on a high floor (there are eight floors here). It gets noisy up there. You get all the hooting and honking from the one-way street that runs along the coast (Beach Rd.) as well as all the huzzas and hollering from the one-way street that runs in front of the hotel (Second Rd.). You get to hear the caged parakeets too. And all the music from Pattaya's many, many bars.

Ask to be put on a low floor. After our first night, I did, and the receptionist was kind enough to put us on the second floor, where only the parakeets could be heard.

I actually don't want to complain about this hotel. It's almost perfect for a beach town. The vast lobby seems all the bigger because it has no walls. It's open-air. If you don't turn left to the welcome desk, you'll end up in a beautifully lush jungle (that's an exaggeration but not much of one). Go further and you'll come upon an enormous pool with a swim-up bar. Keep going, and you''ll find the rear entry, which might as well be the main entrance because it leads to the beach.

The rooms are a bit on the too cozy side. The bathroom is separated from the beds by a meter at best -- and only by a glass wall. You can pull the shades down, but the shades don't do anything to block the noise. This design might be ideal for certain Pattaya visitors, but for the rest of us ...

There I go complaining again. I don't mean to. I loved the room, except for the fact that my bowels felt as though they were on a sound stage.

There's a balcony that you will definitely use because it looks out onto that lush jungle. We enjoyed our post-Songkran water-fighting cigarettes on the balcony. I cannot explain to you how wonderful this felt.

The rooms have parquet floors that feel luxurious under the feet. Our second room had a super comfortable sitting area that invites you to lounge. You will want to turn it into a dining room. The other side of Beach Rd. is lined with street kitchens. We brought back some incredible meals, called room service for silverware and dined as though we were in a five-star restaurant. Seriously. The food you get right across the street for pennies is that good. And the room's ambience is that nice.

I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sitting area. If you're like me and only smoke while drinking in clubs, yo...
