“Excellent room, food and value for money.”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Cucumber Inn is a small hotel opposite Tuk Com electrical warehouse and market in Pattaya. It is a few minutes walk from Walking Street/the beach, and Soi Buakhao Tuesday/Friday market is directly behind the hotel. Rooms are large, have a huge bed, a 32" flatscreen TV with many channels, tea and coffee making facilities and a modern en-suite wc/shower room. there are just 3 rooms per floor and there is a mdern efficient lift to all levels. Rooms are just 990Baht per night single occupancy or 1190Baht for 2 persons. Very reasonable. There is room service for food and drink, and a daily maid service. The Cucumber Inn restaurant serves tasty food and as a guest there you get a 15% discount from your bill. All in all, the Cucumber Inn offers excellent value both for the room and for the location, and we will be staying there next time we are in Pattaya.

Dear C and S
Thanks for the great review and for staying with us not just once but twice on your travels in Thailand! We know there are many hotels to choose from in Pattaya and it makes us very proud to hear your positive coments about Cucumber. For sure we're close to many of the main attractions of Pattaya and the Tuesday/Friday markets are always very popular with our guests. We'd love to see you both on your next visit and it was a pleasure for our team to be of service. Thank you- Kevin General Manager

Good hotel located on the main road leading to Pattaya beach. Has a very good restaurant, serving good food. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, only problem is extra beds are not provided to the additional guest. Sleeping on the extra couch in the room is not a very comfortable option. Big minus is there is no comlimentary breakfast.

My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying at the Cucumber Inn for 5 nights and it was probably the nicest place we have stayed in in our years of travel throughout Asia.
The rooms are outstanding, very large, spotlessly clean, personal safe and LCD TV with all the overseas channels. All the rooms are on a par with 5* hotels, without doubt.
But what really makes the Cucumber so special is the manager and the staff.
Kevin, the manager is from Scotland, but don't let that put you off. Kevin is helpful, courteous and always there to assist you and make sure everything is ok.
My wife and I arrived well after midnight, but Kevin was still there waiting for us to personally check us in.
The staff is wonderful and courteous and because it is only a small hotel, one gets to know all the staff and that adds to the whole experience.
It is obvious that Kevin runs a tight ship and that shows clearly with the staff, they are well-trained and a credit to his management.
There is an excellent restaurant connected to the hotel where they serve breakfast, lunch and evening-meals and we did not even bother going anywhere else as all the meals were very nice. Try the full American breakfast with eggs, 4 rashers of bacon, hashbrown, toast, fruit, fruitjuice and coffee for $6 and you will not look for another place to eat.
Kevin and the staff really made our stay memorable and we thank him for that. We are both in our mid-70's and although Pattaya was probably not our favourite destination, thanks to Kevin and the staff we had a good time.
If you are considering staying at Pattaya don't hesitate and book at the Cucumber Inn, one only has to read the other reviews.

Room Tip: rooms on the 4th floor are probably somewhat quiter, although all windows are double-glazed

Dear Gold Coast Batik - Thanks for the lovely review We're very pleased you enjoyed staying with us during your wedding anniversary trip. As a small hotel all of our staff try everyday to make our guests feel special and not just a room number. It was a pleasure for us to take care of you both, thanks for choosing Cucumber Inn. I stayed at the Cucumber Inn with a friend following all of the positive reviews on Tripadvisor and this is one of the few occasions where my expectations were significantly exceeded.

As anyone that has been there knows all too well, Pattaya is nuts. Cucumber is located just a few minutes walk from the infamous Walking Street and the local beach, but it is far enough away to be a little haven amongst the chaos. We stayed in a twin room and payed 1100 baht a night which, for the standard, was amazingly cheap. The room is very large and the standard of a very good hotel. It had large beds, AC, a safe, a large walk-in shower room and a sofa area. I honesty couldn't find fault.

The restaurant downstairs sells excellent food and all guests get 15% off food. The owner, Kevin, was very friendly and helpful, as were all the staff.

When we booked, this guesthouse was rated number 1 in Pattaya, and after staying there for three nights I can absolutely see why. Would recommend. 100%

Hi MF:
You both were such fun to have around and thanks for the very kind review. For sure Cucumber is close to all the main attractions in the city, we're in a great location to reach the beach easily and the main entertainment zones. We're pleased our large Thai style room also provided a great place to chill when it was time for you to relax too! We hope to see you again sometime. Cheers - Kevin General Manager, Cucumber Inn

Me and my wife stayed here in Feb 2013. The hotel is very small and personalised. we loved how the staff interacted with a personal attention and always with a smile. The room was well decorated with good furniture and very spacious overlooking a junction but never was noisy. thanks to the double window arrangement they have, there us silence in the room. At night you have to take the bar door if you arrive post 11.30 but that is not a hassle and no dangers of doing so. Food is lovely served in restaurant downstairs and resident guests also get a 15% discount which was nice.

Room Tip: Rooms on high floor

Hello Mumbai
Thanks for choosing Cucumber Inn and giving us a super review. We're a small independently owned hotel, not part of a large hotel chain, and we strive always to give our guests a warm welcome and personalised service. I'm glad you liked our rooms and our food in the restuarant. Our chefs have been with us a long time and a high percentage of our diners are repeat visitors to the restaurant. Thanks for taking time to write. Kevin, General Manager, Cucumber Inn

This small hotel is the definitely best hotel I've ever stayed at. It's not only because big, nice rooms and their facility but because I enjoyed small talks with the staff member and was able to make myself at home. Frankly I do not want to tell this hotel to anybody. I want to keep it as my personal secret place.

The other reviews sum up this place very well. The rooms are truly huge and very cosy and comfortable with soft beds and furnishings. There would easily be enough room to put a dining room table or larger desk, but by the same token, there is probably no need as the downstairs dining area is spacious.

What is great about this little boutique hotel is that the owner probably makes just as much money from the restaurant as the rooms, and that is because the restaurant is run so well! Its very much part of the whole offering.

There is room for improvement, for example I was often 'forgotten' in various parts of the dining area when positioned behind pillars or other objects, but these are very minor in the scheme of things. The staff were consistently friendly and eager to please.

I dined regularly in the restaurant normally for lunch, and I found the Thai food to be very good and certainly great value for money with the 15% discount for guests which is very generous - lets face it, the owner David could have done 10% but he did 15% instead!

The owner was always around the place and not just lazing around but genuinely getting involved with the business which is so important. He came across as very genuine, very interested in producing a quality product and if I did have any problems (which I didnt) I am sure he would have rectified any problems quick smart.

What is almost ridiculous about reviewing this hotel is the price. Its less than 1000 baht a night, which normally brings you into 'danger' territory. And what I mean by that is the potential for cheaper places to be dirty, badly run, poor security etc. Definitely not at the Cucumber Inn! The actual 'product' being delivered is up there with hotels in the 2000-3000 baht a night space and I can say that with confidence.

Great place for single travelling women as the security is excellent and the staff engender a homely and friendly atmosphere.

Just one suggestion for the owner please! A list of the channels for the TV please so I dont need to scroll through 60 channels every time I am trying to find Fox News! Other than that, don't change a thing. I look forward to returning next time should you have any rooms free!
