The Red Balcony Inn is a little 'hidden' gem of a hotel located on soi 13/4 (the hotel entrance is about 15 meters up the soi from beach road side.
I stayed in a suite room for a week and a half in December (my second time at this hotel). As a 'suite,' the room itself does not have a lot of extravagance or fancy fixtures in it. You get a bit more space compared to the superior and standard rooms, but you do get a balcony and a view of the beach.
I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating, though on my first visit I found the clerk to be a bit reserved (on this visit she recognized me and was very friendly). Cleaning staff is always there with a smile in the mornings.
The location is ideal, as the entrance to Walking Street is only 160 meters away, and you are right there by the beach. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here, and feel the value is good for the money (get the suite rooms if you can, standard/superior rooms have little to no view outside).
Good:
- Location, only 160 meters from entrance to Walking Street, right on beach road next to the beach.
- Wi-fi is free and speeds are good.
- Hotel laundry rates are cheaper than what you find in other hotels (it looks like they have an outside vendor do the laundry).
- Safes in room
- LCD t.v.
Bad:
- No elevator, can be an issue for those with heavy luggage or physical issues.
- No restaurant in hotel. Never an issue with me as I rarely eat in a hotel restaurant, and there are so many choices all over Pattaya.
- Depending on what room you get (standard/superior vs. suites), view outside can be very limited.
- There are some incredibly annoying tailors and touts that line all along beach road, and a few of them are in the vicinity of that hotel.
- My suite had little ants in the bathroom, but some insect spray took care of that
- Noise level not bad at all considering its location
