This Jomtien restaurant is not on the main road but it's easy to find and sure worth finding !
On the four points that matter in any restaurant (service, food, price, decor) owners Lydia and Christophe have achieved a high performance.
In low season there's a reasonably priced set menu which is great for residents here and if you're a passing tourist then you'll have to go several times during your stay because you'll want to try everything a la carte !
The Terrine is yummy and truly French, the Lapin Chasseur is just like my mother's, the Steak Tartare is exceptional (and manually chopped which makes a world of difference) and on the sweet side, their Tarte Tatin, Ile Flottante and Creme Brulee are to die for. As for the quality of service, Lydia is the perfect host : friendly, fun, efficient.
About the Aircon issue (which was indeed a drawback) : it's installed now.
About the neighborhood issue (the "boys" in the bars around that area) : this is NOT Walking Street or Patpong, the atmosphere is cool, low key and your kids will NOT be exposed to any shocking sights, unless you consider that being gay is shocking. If you do, then perhaps Jomtien is not your ideal destination. Try Laramie, Wyoming, next time.
