Adequate

I needed to stay over night in Pattaya and my taxi dropped me off at the Sabai Empress after trying several other hotels on main road which were full.

The room price was 1500 THB and 150 THB for breakfast, a buffet selection where the eggs are cooked fresh and bakery is fine. Congee is poor and the chafing dishs allow condenced water to drip into the bacon.....

It’s a long walk back to the big new Mall but there you will find a very nice Tops supermarket and plenty of places to eat. The beach is close enough however I didn’t venture there.

Room and bathroom are just as another visitor has posted and you can decide from these pictures if the room is plus or minus “adequate”. For me the lack of hot water in the morning was an issue but it didn’t phase the hotel staff. It seems washing in the morning in cool to cold water is acceptable in their view. Bottles of water in room are chargeable at 25THB, they are 8 THB at 7-11.

For one night the hotel is adequate but probably with more time and research there are better places.

Room Tip: Good enough if you need a place in a hurry but maybe with more research there are nicer places.

I was there for a 5 day stay because my AC in my apartment in Pattaya was under maintanance. For this price the Hotel is just perfect. The room is clean, it is quiet, the beds are comfortable.. The hotel offers in the Bar and Restaurant what you need. You have not far to the Beach and also there are some Bars around. To walking street its 10 - 15 minutes with the 10 bhat taxi. On the roof they have a nice small swimming pool, some sunbeds and a Bar. Perfect for single travellers. It has all what you need.

The hotel is in a narrow sub-street near the beach. You can walk down to the beach within 7 mins. The hotel has 9 floors and the top floor is their swimming pool. Quite compact but lovely setting. There is a pool bar too. This is enough for our stay.

The room is outstanding and over-expectation. TV Channels are numerous too. It seems to us that this hotel is newly renovated.

What we do not like about the hotel is their staff. They talked to each other quite loud and not so polite. We heard everything. We experienced this even we were standing right at the Reception. A man at the pool area did not know where to turn on the jacuzzi. Leftover dishes were left on many tables at the pool area even the pool was almost closed.

The hotel is relatively old. The lobby might look cleaner but other parts of the hotel are there for ages. The room is spacious but quite dusty with ordinary room décor, nothing wow. The room lighting is not sufficient at all in my view. Switched on all the lights but still too dark to read my books at night. Sleep condition is quite bad. Bed and pillows are a bit hard, not really cushy. In-room amenities is limited but didn't expect the full range of amenities anyway from this budget hotel. The only thing i personally think that they should have is a hair dryer. Parking is really unsecured as no guard at all. The only surveillance camera is hiding at the back which I don’t think it helps. Staff service is poor. Lack of profession and apparently need more training.

Location-wise, it takes around 10 min walk down the alley to reach Pattaya beach. Along the beach there are lots of shops but mostly are pricey. We took on a little excursion walking from the hotel, down to the beach, and walk up along the beach to Pattaya Walking Street. This took around 40 mins one way to the end of the Walking Street. The hotel location, further, is very closed to Tiffany , Alcasa and Art in Paradise. Highly recommend for newly opened Pattaya’s attraction Art in Paradise. It is must see 3D painting. We spent 3.30 hrs there!

I had a fantastic stay at the Sabai Empress during Sangkran this year. Great staff, great breakfast, great smoothies, big air conditioned rooms, reasonable food and beverage prices. The room includes a safe, but the staff were honest with money we left out at times.

The pool bar was not manned while I was there, but you can call your order in and it will be delivered. The pool is not huge, but includes a jacuzzi function and in the afternoon you can choose to spend your pool time in the shade or in the sun, both in the water and out.

I booked online via agoda for my first week, and once I knew I was happy with the hotel I booked the second week over the counter. It was cheaper to book online, and breakfast is expensive when not thrown in with the room price, but it is a full buffet so if you like a large breakfast it is value for money.

The hotel is recent built and kept clean. We stayed in a corner room which was large had a bath, shower and a huge hard but comfortable bed. There is a kettle and a fridge and supplied three complimentary bottles of drinking water every day. There is no hairdryer and no tea bags. The bedding is changed every day. The air conditioning worked very well. There is a large HD television which shows English language films and programmes. Not a lot of coat hangers. The breakfasts offered a large choice, fruit, cereal, fresh eggs, fried omlette, juice, water, tea, coffee, rice dishes and spice choices. The bacon and sausage were not great but not really expected to be. There is a roof top pool which is small but usually has plenty of sun beds for everyone when we were there it was usually quiet until mid afternoon. Food and drinks can be purchased by using the telephone at poolside and promptly delivered. Not expensive and good quality. We found the staff to be very friendly and courteous. The majority of the guests were Asian golfers who were seldom seen other than at breakfast, late in the stay there was an influx of Russians, as there is everywhere in Pattaya, who are not charming do not possess manners and can be ignorant, no offence intended to decent Russians. There were Thai girl guests in the hotel. The hotel is located on Road 2 junction Soi 1. A great location for bars, food, shopping and very cheap Baht bus travel in and out of Pattaya centre. Yes the road is loud 24 x 7 and you will hear traffic noise. The rock and roll bar closed on the day we were leaving. My wife and I had no problems with the hotel or staff and would stop again and probably will if we return to Pattaya.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are large and comfortable but are on the front.
