“A Good Show”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2012

Located ten minutes drive south from downtown Pattaya, Alangkarn is well worth the 1200 baht for a superb show.

Try to get there a little early and snag a seat near the front. Actually all the seats in the 2000 seat auditorium have a good and unobstructed view of the sumptuous stage but at the front it is easier to spot the incredible detail in costume and expression.

You can check up the show - just Google Alangkarn and it has plenty of detail.

One thing. There is a buffet which costs 200 baht. Yes it is cheap but it is pretty awful and one thing about Pattaya is that it teems with excellent restaurants.

When the show is over the cast assemble to pose for photos with you and your family. They expect a tip of around 50 baht for this "service" - up to you.

“Alangkarn Theater is Fantastic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2009

We're going to come right out and say it, you should see the "Thai Extravaganza Show" at the Thai Alangkarn Theater. "What is it," you may be asking? It's everything. It's music, dance, storytelling, arial acrobatics, special effects, pyrotechnics, audience participation and pure magic. It bills itself as "The Extravaganza Show" and it certainly lives up to it's name.

Let's start with the theater. It's huge, having the ability to accommodate 2,000 people per show. Shows are offered nightly at 18:00. While we didn't seat in every sit, the tiered seating should make for good visibility no matter where you are. The show itself tells the story of Thai culture and history. The dramatic entrance crescendos with a full stage production number with lavish sets, thunderous music and colorful costumes.

The pace moves quickly from number to number. Just as you're ready for more the next troupe of performers enters onstage for another, new, cultural piece. Many theater productions separate the audience from the performers, meaning the performers act as if no one was watching them. Quite pleasingly for a spectacle as large as this one, select audience members are picked from their seats and invited onto the stage to perform with the dancers.

“Alangkarn”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2009

We booked the tickets and transfer from local tour agency nearby the hotel, we stayed, at a price of THB 1000 per pax (exclude buffet dinner). It took around 45-60 mins from my hotel which is located at Pattaya beach.

In my opinion, the show is so-so but quite entertain during the interactive session. After the show, we can take photos with the casts by paying several baht. Outside the theater building, we also can take photos together with some clowns but once you take photos together with them, they expect you give them several baht.
