We were originally booked into the Jomtien Garden Resort because we couldn't get a room at the Rabbit Resort. The Jomtien Garden Resort was pretty horrible so we decided to move ASAP and found Avalon just up the street. It didn't come up on the popular booking sites when we were first searching.
We had a look at a pool view room on floor 2 and loved it. Huge room and great bathroom. Old school cathode ray tv but you can't have everything. Nice staff except for one grumpy bloke at breakfast who didn't like our noisy baby.
Breakfast buffet was good. We were there in low season so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The Jomtien area looks as if it overrun with Russians in high season so go there at your own peril then.
The hotel is right next to the beach across a small street which is pedestrian only between 10 and 5.
The hotel pool is huge with a kids' section.
Plenty of bars and restaurants along the strip the hotel sits on. This place and Rabbit look to be the pick of the Jomtien hotels. everything else looks cheap, dirty or a place for package tours.
We had room service every night.4 nights of meals with beers cost us about 1800 baht. Bargain. Our hotel room was about $90 a night including breakfast. Excellent.

Room Tip: Go in low season. You have the place to yourself. Room service is a bargain.

Stayed several nights in 4th floor room in what I would describe as a boutique hotel situated on Dong Tarn Beach next to Jomtien Beach. As an independent traveller booked hotel in person with front office reception who could not have been more helpful. Went to the extent of showing me room before I booked it.
Room was in extremely good condition and meticuously clean with a verandah and view over swimming pool. Room was well provisioned with amenities and had an enormous bath which could accommodate two people (three with a squeeze) with ease. Bath robes and slippers were supplied as was a daily newspaper and free bottled water.
Room maids were dilligent in cleaning the room and after cleaning the room was sprayed with a fragrance which added to the ambience of the room.
The buffet breakfast was served in a verandah restaurant and the range of food available was suitable for all tastes. The short order cook providing delicious food when asked. Hotel has an overflow room for breakfast ensuring that at peak times you are not squeezed up against other guests but have sufficient space to eat meals in peace.
The location is quite tranquil being away, but within walking distance, of the hurly burly of Jomtien Beach. Tuk Tuks run regularly the full length of Jomtien Beach and to Pattaya - even to Walking Street - about ten to fifteen minutes away- for just 10 baht per person. So when you need entertainment it is not far away from the hotel.
Many restaurants and bars nearby and if you do not want to use the most magnificient hotel swimming pool the beach is just a few steps away.
All in all a superb hotel with friendly and caring staff. Will most definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Book direct with hotel. Can be cheaper.

This hotel is rather nice. The location is good, it is only 10-15 minutes from the center of the town by car. There is a lot of greenery and complete silence in the hotel, so, you can sleep well and relax near the pool in the afternoon. There is a small road near the hotel where no cars go by.
But the service seemed me very bad. The most personnel is unfriendly, even those who work on the reception doesn't speak English well, you can hardly understand them, they will not explain you how to get some place or provide some other information!
They don't pay much attention to you in the canteen and we should have asked coffee and extra forks every time.
The housekeeping wasn't excellent too, sometimes we found dirty bathroom and floor.
The main problem of this hotel is the construction near it. If you have room with outside view, you will hear drill and hammers from 6 a.m. till 7 p.m. and see a lot of workers under your balcony all day. But it seems that the building will finish soon.
The WI-FI isn't free and it costs 100 baht per day. It isn't much money but the quality of it is terrible. You can take beach towels near the pool (and sign for each item in the notebook) but using them on the beach is prohibited.
The sea is 10 steps from the hotel but it is extremely EXTREMELY dirty.
The swimming pool is nice BUT! the water can dye your swim suit and your hair if you are blond in green color. I through away my swim wear and long blond hear of a one girl was green after some days and she said that the reason has been in this swimming pool! The pool was full of leaves and old flowers and nobody cleaned it up during the day.
This hotel could be very good place if the staff were courteous and valued their guests. But due to the situation which is now it isn't the best hotel where it is worth to stay for such money.

I have stayed here a few times now and I still think it’s ok. While a little way from Pattaya its right next to Jomtien with plenty of things to do and see. Staff were a bit friendly this time. The management need to spend a bit of money on maintenance! I have mentioned this before but don't see any improvement. Some of the small tiles are missing from the pool and wood work around the pool area is beginning to rot and breaking. Need to watch your step as not to step on broken wooden plank and prevent ankle/foot injury. Biggest problem is the wifi internet. It keeps shutting down and suffers from weak signal and one needs to pay for this service. Most places now include this as a free service! The rooms and grounds are clean. Loudish music in pool area during the day, can be annoying when trying to relax by pool. Buffet breakfast is average compared to other hotels/resorts. Might be time to move on from here on next visit. Friend of mine was charged for Ice for drink!!!

Room Tip: Go for Garden room, its straight out to the pool area.

This is my first time to Pattaya and Iknew it was going to be lively thats why we booked here. The hotel is a welcome traquility away from the centre of Pattaya but onlyby 10 mins in a taxi. I am disappointed by the hotel though, it has a great location on the beach which maybe the prices are higher but the hotel and staff are really not up to scratch. Breakfastis very basic, and the staff not friendly at all, with a couple of exceptions. It doeshave a large pool and now in April is very quiet too, but looking around here there are far cheaper hotels with the same standard of facilities. It is however a great location especially if you want the gay beach, it hasnt spoilt our stay here but dont really see why is it moreexpensive than others around.

I stayed at this hotel about 5 years ago. Its not how I remember it!

The hotel is now attracting a lot of Russian guests. I am making an assumption but I suspect these guests are on fairly cheap packages and and the hotel has reduced its prices (for these package deal clients) in an effort to maintain occupancy rates. If you are paying standard rates (around $85 a night) then this hotel starts to look expensive in terms of whats generally available.

The problem that now clearly exists that the hotel is being run on a thin budget with services suffering as a consequence.

First the positives:

> large rooms
> good location
> clean rooms with housekeeping generally undertaken to a good standard.

The negatives:

> pool is not maintained properly. The water is cloudy suggesting a lack of filtering (pool pumps are expensive to run). There is excessive foliage and other debris floating on the water (see picture)

> decking around the pool is in a terrible condition. Not just talking about the decorative appearance but some of the decking is rotten.

> breakfast is a very modest affair. I asked for poached eggs which confused them totally and was served boiled eggs (which appeared in less than 3 minutes) these were almost raw (a hotel that can’t boil eggs, so I opted for the omelette). Fruit juices are gross and paper napkins! This might seem fussy but I am not going into detail here in terms of the other offerings! Staff in the dining room are not particularly friendly.

> towels in the room are old and fraying (no fluffy luxury on offer here). The shower in our room was above the bath and the pressure was dreadful. Even the loo paper was the cheapest stuff you can buy.

> paying for internet access is irritating given that the service standard throughout most of Asia is now free access.

Recommendations:

> Hotel management needs to take steps to arrest the sorry decline of this property.

> If you are planning to stay here I would suggest that you get confirmation in terms of the condition of the pool. Clean, clear water and the surface properly cleared of floating debris and scum must be an absolute minimum standard.

An ok hotel on a rather average beach (Pattaya as it is), rooms are ok, but need slight renovation and ours had that moldy smell in it. Pool could have been cleaner while the room and other areas are clean. Very nice, friendly and professional staff.
The hotel is mostly filled with Russian tourists, which adds to the atmosphere. We stayed there for 1 night and it was ok, however, I would not come back.
