“Chaweng Regent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

A great central location, right in the middle of Chaweng Beach Road. Everything at the front door of the hotel, food, markets, car/bike rental, bars. Just great.

“Busy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

This beach is Koh Samuis main beach and worth a visit. The sand is lovely and soft and beach side it is full of massage operators and beach vendors. Back on the main road it is very busy and full of shoppers. The footpaths are quite narrow especially if you are using a resort umbrella and a lot of the times I found myself walking on the road to pass people. Many of the shops are the same but if you can walk down to Prego's Italian restaurant at the end of the road they do a great spag bol.

“Detoriating beuty”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

Beach has hit the stage where it is no longer a natural unspoiled beauty, promising development nor mature tranquil beatiful spot.

Development has been rather rapid in the past 20 or so years and mostly not taking in to account the nature, good taste or quality in building the village up resulting mixture of western style architecture and Asian style nice hotels or resorts, detoriating nature and older establishments hanging on their old star ratings and somewhat dodgy infrastructure. Having said that, this all is in par with local (quality) mentality and part of the Thai charm but prices should reflect the same. Not the patrons ability to pay.

“There is no public access to the beach!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

If you aren't staying in a beach side hotel then don't waiste 2 days trying to find access to the beach, there is none. You have to walk through a random resort to get to it!!! Not happy Jan!!! Resorts shouldn't be built on the beach, the beach isn't theirs!!! I wouldn't return to Koh Samui because of this.

“Shopping and Nightlife”

We stayed at Chaweng and spent most of the time there, great beach relaxing atmosphere with the option to pop over to the main street and get your retail fix or some great restaurants.
