“Getting Away From It All”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014 via mobile

Definitely worth a trip. Easy walk up to the waterfall and incredibly peaceful. You feel like your walking through the jungle, which I guess you are! The path is very easy to follow. Take a bottle of water and a towel if you want to swim. Totally alone until we got to the first rock pool where there were a couple of octogenarians splashing about naked in the water, having fun like 5 year olds. Very cheering. There's hope for us all!

“Buddhist temple, Jungle, Hiking, Waterfall, Swim - LOVED IT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

It was funny to read the reviews about the strenuous hike to the falls, as we did this hike last week with a 4, 5, and 8 year old (wearing sandals)! Upon arriving in the parking lot, first go to the left and visit the Buddhist Temple/Village, beautiful little place which houses a small community of monks.

After visiting the village, we started the lovely hike up the hill to the falls. With our three small children took us about 45 minutes to reach the falls. The jungle hike was beautiful with massive trees, vines, lush greenery, and virtually no other tourists. As someone mentioned, bring some snacks with you, though we were lucky enough to find a nice man selling inexpensive snacks at the falls.

The falls are small, though our little one loved diving in off the rocks and splashing around. The slight isolation of the falls, and the short jungle trek were what really added to this special experience. The kids felt like they were Dora The Explorer climbing up rocks, jumping over roots, pulling on vines, really fun.

As part of our island tour we came here. Nice little excursion and great to cool off in there. Not much more than that

“Spontaneous adventure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

Saw directions to Hin Lad on a drive around Samui. Neither had been to a waterfall yet so we got trekking. After walking through tricky uphill jungle for 20 minutes we almost gave up - no signage, just follow the river! Luckily we didn't, and after an hour we reached the waterfall. We'd met 3 groups waking back, 2 said worth it, one said its another 10 minutes on but don't bother (when you're 45 minutes in, that's a pretty rough comment!). For us was worth it. A small waterfall, surrounding pool not really deep enough for swimming but great scenery and we had it to ourselves for 1-2 hours. A great spontaneous adventure. Make sure you've got water and something to eat - trek not for the faint-hearted - there was a lady with a stall out on the road to stock up before you start. And watch out for the spiders!
