“Great place to spend an evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2014 via mobile

Myself and my girlfriend ate at PJ's on consecutive nights during our stay at Mai Samui. We tried PJ's after reading positive reviews and we were not disappointed! The restaurant/pub is family run and everyone helps out - the family are friendly and always serve with a smile. We ordered squid and a green curry on our first evening and both were excellent and the next day we called into PJ's during the day to request tiger prawns for that evening - these were in store and turned out to be delicious as well! The food is reasonably priced as are the drinks. You can also play a few games of pool and as PJ's is located on the beach front you can wile away an evening listening to the sound of waves breaking against the shore! Would recommend PJ's to anyone staying in the area for a relaxing evening and high quality food.

“Good local food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

A shabby little hut but great food by a local family who made us feel welcome. Very cheap and tasty and friendly people.
Take a torch if you're coming from the Mai Samui hotel, turn left and keep walking for about 200 metres then turn left until you see the house with a coconut tree growing through the middle of it, and you're nearly there.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014

As one of the previous reviewers put it this truly is a hidden gem on Samui. I have been there many times now over the past few years and still rate it as one of the best fresh local thai food i have had on Samui. Great cocktails and a great setting, staff always very helpful and friendly.

“Slice of heaven!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

This place is amazing! Delicious food, great cocktails, fantastic service!! Very reasonable price (100 baht for a cocktail during happy hour!!). However, the most amazing thing was the setting. We went right at sunset and it was breathtaking! Bob Marley playing in the background just topped it all off. I would HIGHLY recommend heading to PJ's (ESP if staying in one if the resorts in the area).

“A quaint find for absolute beachside casual dining.....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

PJ’s has a fantastic beachside location right at the water’s edge. The bar & restaurant is quaint, open air & built with such a personal touch. Expect a traditional Thai décor with just a delicious predominantly Thai fare but if you need a break from the Thai food the menu has chicken wings, cheeseburger & club sandwiches. We also had the crispy French Fries before dinner whilst having a cocktail.

The menu is not extensive but each meal we had was appetising & delicious. As others have said the garlic & pepper sauce options were great as were the curries. Variations included normal options of seafood, beef, chicken, pork and vegetarian. Husband loved the garlic & pepper prawns.

The cocktail list is great with most cocktails quite cheap from around 120 Baht to the potent Long Island Ice Tea at 150baht. Go for happy hour (17:00 to18.00) at which Cocktails are 100 baht. They were also happy to make special request cocktails based on your favourite alcohol or mixer which always turned out great. Sometimes I just asked to make me a "surprise" cocktail using my favourite - coconut juice which was very good. PJ's also has beer (e.g. Singha 70 baht/Chang 50baht), wine, fruit juice/shakes and soft drinks at very reasonable restaurant pricing.

What is brilliant is the location, location, location. Very secluded with the ocean at high tide lapping against the restaurant wall. Amazing sunset viewpoint. Enjoy a game of pool and for something different there is a small spa pool (although nobody used it whilst we were there).

Dam & family provided personal service that was mellow but attentive (with the chef a.k.a the wife did spend most of the time in the kitchen doing the cooking but was happy to come out and say hello!!!)

A very quaint find which was our second home whilst we were staying at nearby hotel (Mai Samui is closest with Passages a bit further away).

Good music creating a great atmosphere. It became the meeting place with friends we had just met on holiday – the tag line – see you at PJ’s.
