Just had a drink there but I wouldn't think twice about eating there and I am sure the food is awesome. Very beautiful spot, quiet and relaxing and a beautiful place to have a cold beer and watch the sunset. I just love this kind of no-nonsense place.

When you approach Beryl Bar you may think this charmingly ramshackle collection of roofs, tables, and dirt floor is the wrong place. It's not. Piak, and his wife and mother cook up some of the best Thai food you will ever encounter. And the coldest Chang and Singha. When you get the bill you will think he has made a mistake. How can he serve so, so good food, and so much beer for so little? Well he does. You might want to leave a really big tip in Baht, it won't be much in your currency. If you are staying at Mai Samui or passages it is just 5 mins walk up the dirt road. Bet you can't only go here once!

This restaurant is an absolute must if you are staying at the Mai or Terrace just up the road. The food is excellent and such amazing value for money - be sure to leave a generous tip. This place serves the best Thai food we had on our holiday. And with a spectacular sea view. Get there just before sunset for a stunning back drop to your meal. Don't be put off by the look of the place, especially if coming from a 5* hotel, this is just an authentic look for a genuine Thai meal. The family that run it are friendly and you can hear them getting on with their evening in the background, but not in an obtrusive manner, it's almost like you're stopping round for dinner at a Thai friend's house. This was a real highlight of our stay. Tip: take a torch cos the road back is not lit.

Not much to say except it is the best Thai food I have eaten.... If staying next door at mai Samui, it is a must to eat here at least once. It's a short stroll down the dirt road, about 3-5 minutes. The place is not much to look at but the atmosphere is great, and very cheap delicious food with friendly staff.

We have just been staying at Mai Samui and came across this place on TA while looking for food options in the area; and what a find! This little ramshackle restaurant is located in what amounts to almost a private bay overlooking the sea with a huge headland cutting you off from the rest of the island.

When you arrive it doesn't look great but it is! The food is cooked fresh to order which can mean you wait a while but it's worth it. The curries are divine and so generous of portion while you can get a huge plate of shrimp for three quid!

I can't recommend this place strongly enough for an authentic experience with great food at amazing prices. A typical meal with beer was 500 baht and that was more food then we could handle!

The day time is a great time to come - when we tried here for lunch they even gave us a platter of exotic fruits for free.

All in all the great place and a must for visitors to Mai Samui and the Passage.
