Description: Adding cutting-edge design, a global lifestyle with modern luxuries to Thailand, the hip W Retreat Koh Samui also offers the ultimate culinary indulgence with its signature restaurant, Namu. Taking its name from the Korean word for wood, Namu combines the basic life elements to create a new culinary world that embodies Asia Tomorrow. Stylish individual elements underline the minimal clean lines of the decor that sets the scene for inventive Japanese cuisine. Step through the dramatic entrance surrounded by an enchanting water feature inside, subdued lighting suffuses the dining area with a intimate vibe. A dramatic textured ceiling spirals downwards, flanked by green glass rods, representing bamboo. Diners can opt to sit outside on the beachside terrace, at one of the six tables indoors, or at the best seats in the house - along the counter of the open kitchen for a firsthand glimpse of the action. The innovative menu at Namu offers a diversity of dining experiences, re-interpreting influences from around Asia and especially Japan, while retaining intrinsic flavor profiles. In keeping with the traditional Asian concept of dining, a shared table concept that celebrates the compatible textures and flavors is encouraged. Cutting-edge and daring, Namu is a sensual dining experience that constantly re-invents itself, while showcasing the Asia of tomorrow.

Fantastic food. We asked the chef to recommend the food for us and everything that was bought to the table was fresh and interesting. Dishes such as soft shell crab sushi, lobster udon noodles and sashimi that tasted like it was in the water minutes ago. We loved it so much we booked in for the following night. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Everything I ordered was great, but I was disappointed that they didn't have shrimp or lobster (sold out). It wasn't like I suffered, everything that ordered was cooked to perfection. I just really wanted some lobster. Anyway, great restaurant.

Ate dinner with my wife at Namu last night. We were excited to have some sushi, a little change of pace from all the Thai food we've been eating on our trip.

Namu is a beautiful restaurant right on the beach with a very cool interior.

The sushi was average…but you pay an ultra-premium price. Everything was super fresh (probably the best wasabi I've ever had), but just rather bland.

Not a bad restaurant, but you're better off pocketing the $$$ and heading into town for dinner.

The restaurant is built on a beautiful beach in a modern style and provides a wonderful service. The rest rooms are very clean. The staff was very reliable and helpful offering great recommendations from the menu and taking care that everything is in order. Mojitos that we had were just fantastic! It seems like Thailand is a Mojito champion!

Good service staff who served us for dinner. Modern decor with impressive sunset views. Average food at best ~ soft shell crab maki and spicy tuna rows. Liked the grilled hamachi better. Did not like the fried ice cream as the batter was too thick and the ice-cream is powdery and not smooth and velvety. Would really spend time at the outdoor woobar.
