We visited the distillerie in the afternoon. At arrival nobody was their. When planning to leave again a lady cqme out to show us a video. We were not allowed to see the distillerie but welcomed to taste the rum at Bht 50 a shot. We staid an extra 5 minutes and left. The only reason i score an average of 3, is because the Rum is excellent and not expensive. I will go back to buy some more Rum, but not as part of a tour.

The French couple have set the place right. The lady speaks English with a French accent and is very patient with the visitors. She takes care in the tasting process and explains all the minute details of rum making. The visitor book is full with interesting remarks. A must visit in Koh Samui.

We we arrived a very friendly thai lady (who spoke good english) welcomed us and told us that they weren´t actually making rums at the moment because it was outside the sugarcane season. However she offered us to show us a video and we could taste the different types of rum they had for only 50 thb a shot.
The rum was delicious and I ended up buying a bottle..!

We enjoy fine rums and went to the Magic Alambic with friends who are real connoisseurs. I really didn't know what kind of quality to expect (in the rum, the information, the experience), not knowing much about the distillery in advance. We were very pleasantly surprised. It's a small operation run mostly by a husband/wife team. The woman was very knowledgable and friendly and enthusiastic to have you try her rums and tell you about parts of their process. They make agricole which is sugar-based rather than molasses-based. They had a very good aged rum for sipping as well as a regular and some flavored rums. I don't usually appreciate flavored liquor because of the artificiality, but their flavored rums are all natural made with real fruit. Their coconut rum barely resembles Malibu because it's made with fresh coconut meat and is more like an infusion, because distilling rum with fresh coconut doesn't work like with other fruit juices. The result is an earthy, nutty rum that is like nothing you've had. And even though you'd be tempted to mix it, like you would other coconut rum (and we did try that), it is really best appreciated sipped by itself. The woman also makes her own all natural Ti punch mixer. Definitely try the sample she offers and buy a bottle, assuming you are staying in a house where you can refrigerate it and mix your own drinks during your stay.

The setting for the tastings is a little tiki hut surrounded by lush vegetation on their grounds. We visited off-growing-producing-season so just did the tastings but there may have been more to see during production times. Really worth the drive to the south of the island if you're staying up north. A really unique activity on Samui if you appreciate fine liquors.
