To put this review into context, we pretty much always stay in 5* or boutique hotels.

The Conrad Koh Samui comes pretty close to perfection. Our room (223) was basically a huge private villa with it's own, good sized, infinity pool. The room was furnished & designed to a very high standard. The sunsets are amazing. We found it hard to leave our room!

If you want a 'get away from it all' in true luxury then this is your place.

We stayed 5 nights at the Conrad over Christmas and we liked it a lot. The hotel is built on a cliff with stunning views from every villa. We could sit hours looking at the ocean, watching the sunset or watching a thunderstorm unfolt.

The villas are beautiful with a big terrace, practical swimming pool (more than just a plunge pool) and a very spacious bathroom. There is a (complicated) audio/video system based on Apple TV. We had to call several times before we really understood how to operate it. I would recommend the hotel to put a manual in the room. Once you understand how it works, it is great with lots of option, a good choice of on demand movies and excellent sound quality through the Bose loudspeakers.

Every day, we spent a few hours in the gym. The gym is wonderful and mainly the suites upstairs are great with Ocean view, Jacuzzi and steambath. Worth the money. We experienced some therapists as being much better than others. And after 2 days, we choose the therapists we wanted.

Restaurants are great with some excellent food, served in Zest and in Jahn (the 2 restaurants we tried). Breakfast is great with an "special eggs menu" and a wide choice of fresh juices. Excellent. Having breakfast outside on the terrace, overlooking the Ocean is a real treat. Jahn serves modern Thai food which we also enjoyed very much. Of course, all this comes at a price and this is what you should expect in a topclass 5 star resort as this one.

The resort is very isolated and you need to drive or take a boat for quite a while in order to get to the nearest city. It did not disturb us and we did not leave the resort, except with the boat to the beach. The resort does not have a beach, though 3 times a day a speedboat brings you to a deserted, very nice beach in 15 minutes (sea can be rough). Water and towels are provided by the hotel at this beach. All very nice !

The service in restaurants and bars have a few flaws, though nothing really disturbing. We found it sometimes very funny and it gave us some good laughs instead of being irritated. Keep it this way as it is much more natural than the perfectly trained personnel you find in some other top resorts.

Overall : strongly recommended and we wanted to stay much longer

Room Tip: We were in Villa 315 which was great !

Dear TK100964,

It was a delight to read your review - thanks so much for sharing it with us! Sometimes the biggest luxury of all when away from home is to relax in ones hotel room with great hospitality, thus we absolutely love that you did just that.

Spent 2 nights here in December. The property is really beautiful, the private villas are great with the plunge pools. In a very remote area of the island, so we stayed on the resort while we were there. We loved our room and the beach, but thought the service was really lacking for such an expensive resort. We used Hilton Honors points, but the going rate was $600-$700 a night.

Several issues- the staff just did not seem trained up to the level I expect for a resort like this. We were at happy hour one night and were the only couple there for a period of time and it took 15 minutes to get drinks...just not acceptable in a resort of this time and certainly wouldn't be tolerated at the Four Seasons or Ritz. We found the staff friendly, they just aren't up to 5 star standards. Once the management team fixes this issue, I think the resort will be worth the $600+ a night they are trying to get for it. If we went back to Ko Samui, we would likely try somewhere else bc of this.

Best hotel/ resort I have ever been to! My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights for honeymoon. Facilities, services are great! You get everything in your own resort, high quality of equipments are provided. The staffs are super nice, too. We feel like "King & Queen" in our stays. We are so thankful we spent our honeymoon trip there and we will absolutely visit Conrad again to celebrate our 1st anniversary next year!

I was meant to do four-night stay at Conrad but work and home issues left me with only one night. That was just 2 nights ago. The room/villa was everything a luxury hotel can provide. My main "wants" were - a proper private pool, good bed, spacious, airy, a good writing desk, and solitude. We got almost everything. The pool is long enough to do a good lap, the deck chairs were so comfy and cooling with the mesh contouring to your body, not the typical teak and rubber mattress type. The apple TV and the remote set were out of this world, the writing desk was very comfortable and was the office chair. The bathroom was as big as the room and lighting was very good during the night. We only had breakfast at Zest, but it was pleasant since u can order ala carte n take from the buffet. Service was pleasant, some hits and some misses, overall nothing to complainant about.
The resort has 80 villas, and believe everything written about the steepness of the villas! There is not way to walk comfortably around the resort, but thank goodness for the buggies.
Pros
1. Fabulous rooms
2. Everything u want in the room
3. We stayed at room 125, the third last unit.
4. The villas are so high, no way anyone can climb in, so security is no issue

Cons
1. Villa a little too close to each other so we could hear the revellers int he pool on either side of us
2. Only 1 restaurant for breakfast n lunch. Tho theres jahn I think for dinner
3. Very far from elsewhere which was perfectly fine w me as I only wanted to chill
4. Cant take walks after a heavy meal!
5. Aircon compressors can b noisy at night if u are onthe deck.

Room Tip: Choose rooms to the left of Zest - more private. Room 119 seems to have good n unimpeded views

The title of my reviews says it all. This is a luxury boutique resort build on a cliff with astonishing views over the Thailand Gulf. Our Villa (not room there) had a huge bath and separate shower, fantastic amenities and great high speed free wifi. Each villa has it's private pool and you don't even feel like going to the infinity main pool. Restaurants serve high quality food. The breakfast is just amazing with the a la carte menu and the home made smoothies. Total relaxation. The best resort I ever stayed in. The staff is also fantastic and very proactive.

This is the best resort we've ever stayed in! From arrival to departure, everything is high-quality.

The villas are amazing, they thought about all the little things, that turn a good trip into a memorable one: insect repellent refilled every day, free iPad at your convenience, 3 types of bath robes, 4 types of bath amenities to choose from, 8 types of pillows in the Pillow menu, etc... And then there's the individual infinity pool, which has perfect size. You can just "chill by the pool", you can swim, you can jump, or just enjoy the infinity view.

The service is very good. If I would recommend staff something is to pay more attention to guests' requests. Sometimes it took more than 15 minutes to get the ordered dishes at breakfast (gourmet dishes like Egg Benedict, salmon platter, etc), but still a bit too long. On another occasion they forgot to write down a reservation made for the free boat shuttle, and they spent 5x more time trying to fix it. The feeling we got was that they knew at all times what you need and what you want to do. Whenever we ordered a buggy to take us to arrival lobby, our rental car was already waiting, with AC on. It's nice touches like this that speak "quality".

After visiting this Conrad, it will be difficult to consider any other place for a romantic luxury holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms on 3rd level are the best mix between proximity to breakfast area/beach and views.
